I love highland historical romances and cannot help myself from selecting them. The first two books of this series were ruined by the narration. I thought this book with a different narrator would be better. Boy! was I wrong, why o why release these poorly read books. The books are expensive enough without the story been destroyed by a poor reader.
I really enjoyable listen. Carolyn Morris did a great job, really bringing the story to life. I am looking forward to the other books in the series.
It is true that the narrator can really bring a book to life. Carolyn Morris did such a splendid job on book 1, she was hard to follow. I found her male voice too insipid for the Nick who we met in book 1. I am just about to start book 3 with another narrator [maybe series should keep the same narrator ] I know the story line will be good, hopefully so will the narrator.
I stopped listening at chapter 10, maybe the story would have improved but the narrator was incredibly bad. He was not able to carry male and female voices. I might get the book and finish the book. If this is the start of a trilogy please change the reader.
This is an interesting story destroyed by the narration. The narration for all highland books are crucial.
These highland men are a strong, braw no nonsense type and the lasses fiery beautiful women. Therefore the reader must portray this image. The accent must be Scottish.
I think the very very best reader of a Scottish tale is ...Davina Porter.
She is a pleasure to listen to and can put a different voice to all the characters both male and female.
I know this is book 1 of the series, please change the narrator for the remaining books.
I really enjoyed this book. Mary Jean Wells did a great job with all the different voices. I will add her to my list of good readers.
Gripping story line, please lets have book # 2 in audio soon. This is my first book by Trish McCallan but will not be my last, problem is I can't find any more @ audible either in UK or USA sites.
Do not waste a credit on this book. Narration was very poor, story line had no grip.
enjoyed the story, am listening to the second book now and also enjoying it. I think the third book will be the best somehow.
Narrator ok, not great , makese it difficult to listen to the childrens voices
Really enjoyed the story and of course Davina Porter brings everyone to life. I was sorry to finish the book.
