    Any additional comments?

I enjoy James Patterson books and the Private series are first class. I found the female performer painful to listen to and this detracted from my enjoyment, to the point that I had to abandon the story half way through it. The unnecessary over acting and cartoon-like voice characterization was painful. Each time the female protaganist's son appeared in the book, I had to remove my earphones. In fairness the performers normal reading voice was pleasant and she read very well, if she could have toned down the performance I would have enjoyed the book.

When a gray-haired man steps forward from the crowd claiming to be his father, Ned's life is thrown into far deeper turmoil. He'd been told since he was a baby that his parents had died in a car crash. Barely an hour later, his newly found father is stabbed by an unknown assailant in the Ascot parking lot. Blood oozing from his abdomen, his father warns Ned to "be very careful." But of whom? Of what?<

I grew up in reading Dick Francis and I relished every chapter. 'Even money' was no disappointment, Felix will bring a new generation along to the race course. The narrator (performer) Martin Jarvis is excellent. This is a wonderful story, beautifully told.
