I've enjoyed listening to the series so far. Sometimes the names get confusing (like "domaunie" the land and the girl that can channel but is on a leash) but the readers are great. Yes readerS... 2 of them. A woman for the mostly women parts and a man for the mostly men parts of the book. Its quite cleaver and is very enjoyable after you get used to it.
Sometimes Robert gets a little repetitive with the whole "smoothing a skirt" or other traits of a character but then that?s his style.
The story line is great and somewhat original.
I'd recommend this book to those that like Fantasy Books.
No. But this book really didn't have anything interesting in it to read about. It basically was a very very realistic telling of one family staying safe in an epedimic that really didn't get to out of hand. It was so realistic (no zombies, no massive gangs, no aliens) that I'm sure this is what will really happen but it was pretty boring as a book
The reader was fine
not really fun
Yes, its imaginative with new cleaver "magic" and he keeps the bad language out
maybe like a robotech book from long ago.
Yes, this was good
I listened to this with my young kids and we all enjoyed it
he always does a good job of creating plausible magic systems plus I love the reader.
mistborn. a new and unique magic system with fun characters
the time warping power fights
when he shoot the new bullets and forgot he could push them
yes, b/c it was entertaining. I also like the fictional science that makes up space travel etc
the cat fight
good fun book
that the author wrote the main character more like a real person with side mental conversations and jokes. Very funny and like me in real life (minus the whole zombie thing)
laughing during a zombie book
naw its just a better than normal zombie book
I really like this one
The reader was better and the story was still good. He simply tells the side stories of other characters from the first book. It is still pleasurable and interesting.
I was concerned by the bad reviews but listened anyways and really liked it.
not really but its not that kinda story
I liked the whole cross the country episode
I think if you remeber that this is a fantasy or sci-fi book and not a real world fiction then you'll be okay with the odd bits of the book/series.
for instance, now 3 random brits make it to the states on a Tazmania ship looking for MWD. man thats a bit of stretch (but not for a work of fiction... hey its fiction). What ever, they got there. Get over it.
there is the standard writer repetition but maybe less than normal.
i actually like this narrator a lot too. sure no one pronounces things the way we want them to all the time, but so what. Also, later in the book some acents are explained. But what ever... he has to pull off an obseen number of voices.
I'm liking the series a lot
I love the whole idea of this book. I also enjoyed his other book. They have a similar concept or mutual comunication via tech in a bizar way but both were enjoyably different.
I especially like the side adventures of Princes Nell as she is taught morals and direction.
I have found myself pondering this 'subversion' idea on my own and so loved this stories ideas on it.
I enjoyed this departure from reality. I got a kick out of the chapter transition sound effects and out of the protagonist's or hero's name :)
if you are up for a little adventure in oddity this is a great book
this whole series was great
it was an unusual twist to my normal listenting habbits.
It was fantasy and scifi in present day times.
I would definitly recommend this series
