An interesting and comprehensive survey of a little studied portion of history. Excellent reader, highly recommend.
I have read a lot of bad fantasy, but this may be the worst of it. The reader is god-awful, and that doesn't help a plot where the character development and interaction seem like something fathomed by a very socially awkward 11 year old.
I have almost unknowingly been looking for a book like this for a long time! I am a fan of Stephen Pressfield's historical fiction books and George RR Martin does a great job mixing fiction and reality into his own realm (phenomenally so); but Cornwell does a great job of making his book, although grounded in history, into a story that puts you there in a way that few other historical fictions ever have managed! I am truly in awe! it is worth a read (or listen... the reader is great by the way)! Highly Recommend!
I cannot believe a different reader was chosen for this audio book than Roy Dotrice, especially since Dotrice was interested in narrating the book. It was a huge mistake and ruins the quality of George RR Martin's writing.
I emailed Random House requesting a reread by Dotrice for this first half of Feast for Crows when the second half is released. firstname.lastname@example.org lets hope that more people request the same.
Over all the book is still very good, but most of the best characters are missing from this half. Still it is a decent chapter in this phenomenal series. With Dotrice back it would be fantastic.
