Book was very interesting and held my attention throughout the 21 hrs of the story.
Always wanting to know what happens next.
It was hard to be dragged away from listening to do other tasks...
The attraction to this book is the strong female character.
Fantasy genre books for young girls is very important. Ones which shows the "heroine" having independent thought and self direction.
No explicit sex scenes, but main character is fine with casual sex with various men.
So, I classify this book for adults 18+, but the gook is targeted at 11 and 12 yr old girl readers..
Regardless, the plot progresses pretty slowly and the reader does not help.
In light of so many other better books choices, this one is a waste of time.
I liked the detail about the subject matter of theft (at a high-end) skilled level
.Parts were a bit too grizzly!
The tough guy the "hero" is.Kinda like a "Jack Reach" type of guy.
Hero is smart and knows how to fight.
I initially listened to this book a couple of years ago. Second time thru is still good.
You will probably like Lee Child's books if you like this one.
If you ever read books of this genre like the Sharpe's Rifles Series or The Horatio Hornblower Series the hero is so "Grand", but Flashman in this book is the anti-hero.
So funny even though it has dark shocking humor.
It is like a tabloid talk show, total trash.
I continued to read it is to see what the jerk (Flashman) will do next.
Very discussing, vulgar. Like a loud fart in a quite church.
Definitely "guy" humor only!
Pace of book got slow. Just too much to get thru.
Fell asleep during listening...
Got to be a bit boring...
I am a avid reader and I listen to many genre's of audio books.
I have over 4,000 in my Audible library...
I really have been finding it hard to find new books that are really, really good...
This book and the sequel I liked a lot. Enough to write a small review.I highly recommend this book. And, if you are looking for books of this genre here are just a few books that are excellent but may not come to the top of the list on a audible search...
1) Eye of the World - Robert Jordan
2) The Name of the Wind - Patrick Rothfuss
3) The Way of Kings - Brandon Sanderson
4) A Game of Thrones - George R.R. Martin
5) The Warded Man - Peter V. Brett
6) Harbinger - Shae Ford
7) Wizard's First Rule - Terry Goodkind
8) The Sword of Shannara - Terry Brooks
9) The Farseer - Robin Hobb
10) Imager - L.E. Modesitt Jr.
The Final Empire - Brandon Sanderson
Poison Study - Maria V. Snyder
Luck in the Shadows - Lynn Flewelling
Wow! Really lost of good action, characters, etc... Typically, I don't like stories with "gods"....
Other books of this "Epic Fantasy" genre I highly recommend are:
The Name of the Wind
Eye of the world
Game of Thrones
The Warded Man
The Way of Kings
Book barely get going and ends.
Obvious a book was split in to 1 third or less of normal length to make a trilogy.
I recommend you get a real epic fantasy bool like "Eye of the World" ...etc.. so many books which are a better value than this one.
Loved this book! Not my typical genre (End of Days / apocalypse).
Kinda like a western, where the tough lone man is the hero A hint of romances...
Kept me awake listing far too long!
VERY FAST MOVING AND ENTERTAINING.
Similar books (Fast Moving, interesting).
1) The Warded Man
2) Name of the Wind
3) The Way of Kings
Other books I like is
1) Eye of the World
2) George R.R. Martin Game of thrones
3) Power of One - Bryce Courtney ... Suck you in...
I am currently listening to the second book in the series...
Love the reader!
I seem to fall asleep allot listening to this series and I need to go back an re-listen..
The series is "Good" but not great.
I enjoy Epic Fantasy Books.... Wheel of Time Series, Wizards First Rule, George R.R. Martin, The Warded Man, The Name of the Wind...
