Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

    Any additional comments?

A beautiful book with good character development and an engaging story. The narrator is also very very good. I always enjoy books read by her.

In 1954, in the cookhouse of a logging and sawmill settlement in northern New Hampshire, an anxious 12-year-old boy mistakes the local constable's girlfriend for a bear. Both the 12-year-old and his father become fugitives, forced to run from Coos County to Boston, to southern Vermont, to Toronto, pursued by the implacable constable.

James Ladden says: "Better to read it"
    "I liked the book, but"
    Overall

The book is slow, as others have said. But still enjoyable, in an "easy to put it down" way. I listened to this book in pieces between other books.

The narrator's voice is nice, but his consistent mispronunciation of street names in Toronto was distracting and annoying.

Really only worth 1 credit though.

An 1850s British nobleman - facing wrongful imprisonment - sends his daughter Catherine to Philadelphia to conceal her past and start a new life as a seamstress. The City of Brotherly Love is soon abuzz with the superior workmanship and elegant design of Catherine's clothing. And when two aspiring customers visit her shop one day, Catherine recognizes their handsome companion as Carter - the American lawyer who visited her father's English estate five years ago.

A User says: "Hard to Hear"
    "Truly Terrible"
    Overall

This is the worst book I have ordered from Audible in my five years of subscribing. The characters are flat and uninteresting and the plot boring and predictible. The good characters are sugar sweet and have never in their lives had a bad though. The bad characters are over the top mean and evil. And just to add a bit of fun, the author tosses in an abortion debate! I felt like I'd wandered past the downtown planned parenthood site and had to listen to the radicals screeching about "baby killers."

When ordering a romance, I expect light entertainment with interesting characters and a plot with at least ONE twist to it. This book was sadly disappointing.
