An assassin takes aim at a Presidential candidate during a primary stump speech. The instant he pulls the trigger, the outcome of the election is irrevocably changed. But Democrat Teddy Lodge, an upcoming media sweetheart, isn't killed. His wife is. As a result, Lodge emerges as the man to beat and the greatest threat to the incumbent President, Morgan Taylor.

A great premise that was, for the most part, very well written. There are some cringe inducing passages (I found myself laughing my head off as well) when the author describes the characters' amorous encounters and there seem to be times when the author is merely 'filling pages' with irrelevant details but overall this is a fun summer read. The only negative is the narrator whom I can only describe as the teacher from Ferris Bueller saying Bueller...Bueller over and over again. Complete monotone except when he tries to do female voices and then he's just down right bad.

On the grubby outskirts of Paris, Grace restores bric-a-brac, mends teapots, re-sets gems. She calls herself Julie, says she's from California, and slips back to a rented room at night. Regularly, furtively, she checks the hometown paper on the Internet. Home is Garland, Tennessee, and there, two young men have just been paroled. One, she married; the other, she's in love with. Both were jailed for a crime that Grace herself planned in exacting detail.

Alex Prevost - kidnapped, savagely beaten, suspended from the ceiling of an abandoned warehouse in a tiny wooden cage - is running out of time. Her abductor appears to want only to watch her die. Apart from a shaky eyewitness report of the abduction, Police Commandant Camille Verhoeven has nothing to go on: no suspect, no leads, and no family or friends anxious to find a missing loved one. The diminutive and brilliant detective knows from bitter experience the urgency of finding the missing woman as quickly as possible - but first he must understand more about her.

Wow what a wild ride! I won't spoil anything but this book twists and turns and then twists and turns again. And unlike other thrillers where you get lost, all of it makes perfect sense. Great narration, sympathetic characters, and a truly great story.

When it comes to creating ideas, we hold ourselves back. Thats because inside each of us is an internal editor whose job is to forever polish our thoughts, so we sound smart and in control, and so that we fit into society. But what happens when we encounter problems for which such conventional thinking fails us? How do we get unstuck? For Mark Levy, the answer is freewriting....

This is an excellent book written by one of the titans of literature. The story is good enough but there is so much more to think about here. This is a dense book that I will have to take the time and read on paper just to make sure I've caught everything.
Not for the faint of heart!!

Somewhere in North Dakota, there is a town called Owl that isn't there. Disco is over, but punk never happened. They don't have cable. They don't really have pop culture, unless you count grain prices and alcoholism. People work hard and then they die. They hate the government and impregnate teenage girls. But that's not nearly as awful as it sounds; in fact, sometimes it's perfect.

Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

This book keeps the story moving and seems to start to set up an end game....maybe? Most of the favourite characters are here some of whom experience quite unusual circumstances. Much from the previous book is expounded on with many new characters being introduced. Great job from the narrator in what surely must be one of the toughest books to voice.
