  • The Way of All Flesh

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 18 mins)
    • By Samuel Butler
    • Narrated By Frederick Davidson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

This brilliant satirical novel, tracing the life and loves of Ernest Pontifex, has continued in popularity since its original publication in 1903. Every generation finds in The Way of All Flesh a reaffirmation of youth's rightful struggle against the tyranny of harsh parents and its admirable will for freedom of personal expression.

    Jake says: "Really spectacular"
"Terrific Book, Narrator had much to be desired"

This was a wonderful book, full of gems! The narrator was so difficult to listen to. Unlike other readers, I never got used to his "tone." The story was wonderful though and was worth suffering through the narrator.

  • Paths of Glory: A Novel

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 6 mins)
    • By Jeffrey Archer
    • Narrated By Roger Allam
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Some people have dreams that are so magnificent that if they were to achieve them, their place in history would be guaranteed. People like Christopher Columbus, Isaac Newton, Florence Nightingale, Thomas Edison, Nancy Astor, Charles Lindbergh, Amy Johnson, Edmund Hilary and Neil Armstrong - their unparalleled success has made their stories into legend. But what if one man had such a dream, and once he'd achieved it, there was no proof that he had fulfilled his ambition?

Joel says: "Archer Does it Again!"
    "Great Book, Fact or Fiction?"

I really enjoyed this listen. Although I have no interest in climbing, the passion that this man exudes is contagious. It's an adventure, a love story and a very easy listen. It was a bit long, and I wonder if the abridged version would have been just as good...Enjoy!

  • The Road

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 39 mins)
    • By Cormac McCarthy
    • Narrated By Tom Stechschulte
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

America is a barren landscape of smoldering ashes, devoid of life except for those people still struggling to scratch out some type of existence. Amidst this destruction, a father and his young son walk, always toward the coast, but with no real understanding that circumstances will improve once they arrive. Still, they persevere, and their relationship comes to represent goodness in a world of utter devastation.

Taryn says: "Will touch your soul"
    "Riveting yet warm"

Definitely worth the listen. Very gripping and sensitive...The kind of book that makes you think, actually makes you WANT to think...

  • The Glass Castle

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Jeanette Walls
    • Narrated By Julia Gibson

This extraordinary memoir from Jeannette Walls is a stirring and distinctive story that has won tremendous critical acclaim. In a starred review, Publishers Weekly applauds the author's "fantastic storytelling knack", saying, "Walls doesn't pull her this excellent, unusual book."

Tracie says: "Stayed Awake Until 5 am to Finish!!!"
    "Riveting, and true!?"

The story gets you from the first bizzare as the story is, the most bizzare thing about it is that it's a memoir, a true story! It gives new meaning to "you can't make this stuff up!" I loved everything about it. I would highly reccomend it.

  • Water for Elephants

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 26 mins)
    • By Sara Gruen
    • Narrated By David LeDoux, John Randolph Jones
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Why we think it’s a great listen: Some books are meant to be read; others are meant to be heard – Water for Elephants falls into the second group, and is one of the best examples we have of how a powerful performance enhances a great story. Nonagenarian Jacob Jankowski reflects back on his wild and wondrous days with a circus. It's the Depression Era and Jacob, finding himself parentless and penniless, joins the Benzini Brothers Most Spectacular Show on Earth.

    Kindle Customer says: "Great Narration!!"
    "Just loved it!"

    You won't be dissapointed!

Late September in an isolated Tuscan farmhouse, and a group of old university friends and their families have come there to relax and to put the tragic events of the past year behind them. Watching them arrive is Anna Viola, who remembers another Englishman arriving to seek shelter at the farmhouse during the war. Before the week is out, past and present will collide with unexpected and dramatic results.

Amyable says: "Well written, well read!"
    "Well written, well read!"

I found the book a tad bit difficult to follow, but after the first half hour, I was hooked. Beautiful story with many twists and turns in an enchanting setting. And bonus: The narrator was a pleasure to listen to!

  • Wuthering Heights

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 11 mins)
    • By Emily Bronte
    • Narrated By Janet McTeer, David Timson

When Mr. Earnshaw brings a black-haired foundling child into his home on the Yorkshire moors, he little imagines the dramatic events which will follow. The passionate relationship between Cathy Earnshaw and the foundling, Heathcliff, is a story of love, hate, pity, and retribution, the effects of which reverberate throughout the succeeding generations.

    Stephanie says: "Classic"
    "An Emotional Classic"

Far more in-depth than any movie could portray. I was rivetted by the emotions and portrayals of these classic characters. The reading is compelling. I would highly reccomend.
