I do not mind the occasional sex scene, especially if read by good narrator. This book however, did not contain sex scenes. What it did give the poor reader was a spinster’s idea of sex in a tub of syrup. Exhausting! Utterly to much burning love, throbbing this and that’s. Too much feeling and explanation of feeling – so to justify the frequent sex. This book had potential, but the writer killed it with long scenes that was supposed to be sizzling, but just bored the living daylights out me.
I did not realize this is a love story. It is also over dramatic, over syruped and over priced! I did not finish this book, I simply could not take one more second of this nonsens
Too much girl teenage romance angst. I guess the story would have been good if I was a 15 year old girl. I found myself being so irritated with this story that I almost indulged in Road Rage.
I really wish they would create a new category for this new flood of Romance Fantasy. Maybe if there was a Vampire like warning label on the book we would already know: Innocent but powerful (in something) girl, hates hot unbearable beautiful weirdo. Turns out he is different from the others and blah blah love for ever and ever.
I would have given it a minus 10, but I have to be fair, just because something is not my genre, does not mean that it was that bad. I should have given it a three, but I just could not force myself. If you are older than 15 - don't do it! If you are male, rather go chew on your hand, it would be less painful.
I have no idea what the raving about this book is. Non at all. It is immature, childish and inconsistent. I enjoy teenage scifi and fantasy (Harry Potter/Hunger Games/Divergent… even Twilight (errr.. sorry)!) This book is not like that. It is simply very badly written. The characters jump in their speech from “high fantasy English” to “ok, yeah”. Really? This is rated as – Wow by readers?
I guess there is something in the story, otherwise I would have asked for my money back. But it is just so badly written and it terrifies me that this is where literature is going. Read Brandon Sanderson, then you will understand what I am talking about. I was very disappointed, really looked forward to a new series that I could get into. I will not be getting the next book.
One last thing. The narrator did an awesome job. Shame it was such a book, but he was extremely heroic in his attempt to save it.
I guess that if you have nothing else in your library and can’t find anything else worthwhile to read, then this is not the worst choice that you can make. I read this book when I was still a kid, and loved it then, it is David Eddings after all. Since then I have become more stimulated by writers like Robert Jordan, George RR Martin, Brandon Sanderson etc. This might be one of those cases where I am simply over critical, but…
Well, it was a book, and there were words in it. It was not completely awful, but it was not anything to write a review about. I will not recommend this book to any reader that has a couple of brain cells.
Just a nice relaxing book. The narrator did an excellent job and the story was often amusing. If you want a deep and serious book, this is not it, but listening to it after some other terribly choices, I found it wonderful!
A narrator. that can read. a whole sentence. without putting inappropriate pauses. everywhere.
In every way that a narrator can possible detract
The story line was not to bad.
It was incredibly boring. I struggled through this book. What a waste of my money.
I have been reading some serious fantasy for a while now (Jordan, Martin, Sanderson) and then accidently listened to a really bad one (Luck in the Shadows). Then I found Hounded. I have not laughed out load listening to a story in long time. Thoroughly enjoyable, witty and totally different from my usual meals. If you want a really nice desert, I recommend Hounded.
I am an audiobook addict and listen to fantasy continuously – doing everyday tasks like driving, preparing food, even programming while listening. I have never had a problem following the stories narrated. This narration however set my teeth grinding. I lost the plot so many times because my mind simply wondered – no, tried to run away screaming from the narrator.
If I got the book for free, I would have stopped listening after 30 min. I will try and get this book in paper format and will give it another go, one day. Right now, I just wish this torment will end.
