Preacher's daughter Lauren thinks that she is going to work for wealthy Olivia Lockett as a secretary. Instead, the matriarch makes Lauren a scandalous offer to marry her son in name only. Lauren has strong feelings for him but are they strong enough?

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I think the book would have been 2 hours shorter if he didn't pause every couple of words.

    Any additional comments?

I'm a Sandra Brown fan through and through. I stuck with it, in spite of the narrator, because it's a nice story.

Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron spent a lifetime of shame. His human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Brought back against his will, he became the sole defender of mankind.

I am new to the series, and have read one after another over the past couple of weeks. Acheron is intense, heartbreaking, and necessary to help understand why he does the things he does. Tortured soul, compassionate in spite of all his tortures. Amazing.
