Since Darwin's day, we've been told that sexual monogamy comes naturally to our species. Mainstream science - as well as religious and cultural institutions - has maintained that men and women evolved in families in which a man's possessions and protection were exchanged for a woman's fertility and fidelity. But this narrative is collapsing....

    Story
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book gives a nice alternative and objective view to human sexuality and why cultural and religious barriers are destroying friendships and families.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The civilizations that did not have our current cultural restrictions forced on them and those that are doing their best to preserve something truly human rather than something made for mass consumption.

    Which scene was your favorite?

Where it was told that the marriage structure we know is, in reality, but an illusion made by people who wants nothing more that power, humanity be damned.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

How other culture kept themselves in control by sharing everything, including responsibility , obligations and each other. Something many in modern societies shamely lacks.

    Any additional comments?

Must read for everyone who wants to understand their sexuality and maybe find clues to help with their current relationships. It may also help current families by giving possibilities to help each other without sacrificing the family while at the same time remain true to your nature and also to your partner. Should also be a must read at sex education classes.

If you could sum up Conquest: Star Force, Book 4 in three words, what would they be?

    Trust, friendship, betrayal.

What did you like best about this story?

The forming of new cultures in the stories that you would almost think that they truly exist. You will listen to learn more of the new aliens and allies that arrives.

What about Mark Boyett’s performance did you like?

As before, he continues to give life to the characters of the story. Now he also brings voice, and life, to these aliens that you would make you almost think they exist. You will be surprised and immersed in this story continuously.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Again there were many and, as before, as a fan of this series, I will not spoil it.

    Any additional comments?

Lets go for humanity and its allies.

In the third book of the Star Force series, Kyle Riggs learns just what kind of war Earth is caught up in. At the mercy of the Macros, his marines fight against new alien races, big and small. Where does Rebellion rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

On the top. B.V. Larson continues this wonderful saga with another book and Mark Boyett continues to keep the characters alive with his voice acting.

What did you like best about this story?

The tough decisions that had to be made in order to survive. What it takes to be able to preserve humanity by destroying part of it while still maintaining your humanity. Sometimes the decisions that are required aren't always the easiest. Also your biggest enemy might not be the one out there but the one who is right next to you.

What does Mark Boyett bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He continues to bring alive the characters that continues in this saga, From the start you will recognize each of the characters without even needing to hear the text. His ability to continue to immerse you in this story with his voice acting is still 5 stars worth.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I had the full uninterrupted 12 hours of hearing time, I certainly would.

    Any additional comments?

If anyone want to send payback to the enemies of humanity, continue this saga and find out what it takes.

In the second book of the Star Force series, Kyle Riggs has another bad year. The Nano ships have a new mission--one that sentences their pilots to death. Meanwhile, the governments of Earth want to steal Star Force's Nano technology for their own. Worst of all, Earth has made a promise to the Macros, and the machines are coming to collect.

Would you listen to Extinction again? Why?

That is a certain. In fact I am planning to listen to the whole series soon enough, from first book to the last (Dead sun).

What did you like best about this story?

It remains true to the first person story perspective. It keeps you attached to the story while making sure you do not lose track of what is happening. You feel like your the protagonist in a story that is going its way and the only way to go is with it. And you will go with it to the end.

Which character – as performed by Mark Boyett – was your favorite?

That is difficult to say, since Mark Boyett does a great job in is voice performance. He gives each character in the story a unique voice, allowing you to recognize each character exactly in the story. His ability to voice the emotions of all the characters in the story is also a very big plus. This makes the story much more immersive.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several, but if you really love the first book, you would know that it would not be right to spoil this wonderful saga.

    Any additional comments?

Anyone who loves the first book, will love this story for certain.

Kyle Riggs is snatched by an alien spacecraft sometime after midnight. The ship is testing everyone it catches and murdering the weak. The good news is that Kyle keeps passing tests and staying alive. The bad news is the aliens who sent this ship are the nicest ones out there.

What did you love best about Swarm?

The first person story telling allows you to keep a constantly attached to the story without forcing you to jump around the world. It is like you are just following only one person in the story rather than many, keeping a straight story line and thus losing pace.

What other book might you compare Swarm to and why?

I could compare it with mogworld and Jam. This due due to the fact they are all told in a first person by the protagonist. It keeps you in the story without jumping you around the world.

Have you listened to any of Mark Boyett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first one, although I am already going through the others of the star force series.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Space adventure with the smallest allies and the biggest enemies

The year is 2033. The world has been reduced to rubble. Humanity is nearly extinct and the half-destroyed cities have become uninhabitable through radiation. Beyond their boundaries, they say, lie endless burned-out deserts and the remains of splintered forests. Survivors still remember the past greatness of humankind, but the last remains of civilisation have already become a distant memory. Man has handed over stewardship of the earth to new life-forms.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The main character development during the story makes him very interresting. It also makes you question yourself during the story if you would share his views or not as the story progresses.

    Which scene was your favorite?

When the main character is returing to his home station and he start asking himself about everything that has happen to him and he survived and others did not.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

A story that will make you question your own place in the world and what is truly valuable and what is not.

    Any additional comments?

The book itself is a bit hard to read on its own. Mainly because it was translated in a very google-like way. With the audiobook, however, it becomes much easier to follow the story all the way to the end. I recommend when you buy the book to buy this audiobook as well. I will guarantee that you will not be dissapointed when you do that.

In a world full to bursting with would-be heroes, Jim couldn't be less interested in saving the day. His fireballs fizzle. He's awfully grumpy. Plus, he's been dead for about 60 years. When a renegade necromancer wrenches him from eternal slumber and into a world gone terribly, bizarrely wrong, all Jim wants is to find a way to die properly, once and for all. On his side, he's got a few shambling corpses, an inept thief, and a powerful death wish. But he's up against tough odds....

What made the experience of listening to Mogworld the most enjoyable?

The overall voice acting, combined with how the narrator expresses the characters emotions during the story. Keeps you hanging on the story to see it all the way to the end.

What other book might you compare Mogworld to and why?

Not many that keeps you this attached to a story or adds a good dose of comedy to a story without sacrificing the overall experience.

Which character – as performed by Yahtzee Croshaw – was your favorite?

The main character Jim, off course. Although he does a great job with the other characters as well. Mainly because the performer has written the story too, he can perfectly express the exact emotions the characters are feelings in their voices. Keeping you attach to them and also wanting to follow them to see what is coming at them next.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

An adventure that will keep you at your edge of your seat laughing while begging for more.

    Any additional comments?

Not many stories are both written and narrated by the same author. So this audiobook would be a perfect start for anyone who wants to try an audiobook. Reading the book while listening will add the bonus of being more immersed in the story.
