Makenna James thinks her day can't get any worse, until she finds herself stranded in a pitch-black elevator with a complete stranger. Distracted by a phone call, the pin-striped accountant catches only a glimpse of a dragon tattoo on his hand before the lights go out.

If you could sum up Hearts in Darkness in three words, what would they be?

    Short. Sweet. Satisfying.

What other book might you compare Hearts in Darkness to and why?

I've never read anything like this. Unique concept.

    Which scene was your favorite?

The first time she calms him down with her touch.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I chuckled a couple of times. My "extreme" reaction would have to be that it just made me happy.

    Any additional comments?

I love long books, like The Stand (almost 50 hours!), but I really liked a couple of Laura Kaye's other books so when I read about this one, I had to try it. So glad I did. I don't know how she was able to to develop her characters so well in such a short amount of time. A master!

Off the court, tennis star Jason Cartwright's playboy image is taking a public beating. On the court, he's down 40-love. A knee injury is shutting down his game, and the paparazzi are splashing his love life on every magazine. A comeback is in order, but the makeover he needs to save his faltering career is in the hands of the woman he loved and left 15 years ago. While single-mom Izzy Connors sees people for who they really are through the lens of her camera, even without it, she knows Jason isn't the star he appears to be.

What did you like best about Game, Set, Match? What did you like least?

I loved Jason's and Nick's characters. I liked Izzy the least, because she was the main character and was supposed to be the best.

Would you recommend Game, Set, Match to your friends? Why or why not?

Nope. Izzy might be a good mom but she's a moron. She expects perfection and she's not even a perfect person herself. By the end of the book, I just wanted to scream at her. Annoying.

Have you listened to any of Traci Odom’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, but I really liked her performance. I hope to hear other books she's narrated before.

What would have made this romance irresistible?

    If izzy wasn't such a nit-picking, "i'm such a victim" annoying shrew.

    Any additional comments?

Take Jason's character and reform him into a character in another book without a shrew for a leading lady.

In the frigid pre-dawn hours, in a distressed Midwestern city, hundreds of desperate unemployed folks are lined up for a spot at a job fair. Without warning, a lone driver plows through the crowd in a stolen Mercedes, running over the innocent, backing up, and charging again. Eight people are killed; fifteen are wounded. The killer escapes. Mr. Mercedes is a war between good and evil, from the master of suspense whose insight into the mind of this obsessed, insane killer is chilling and unforgettable.

If you could sum up Mr. Mercedes in three words, what would they be?

    Intense. Sad. Satisfying.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes, and not just because I kept worrying for the characters. I also wanted to know how the romance was going to turn out.

    Any additional comments?

I was at one point so worried for the characters I almost wanted to put the book away--but I just had to know how it all turned out!

On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

If you could sum up 11-22-63 in three words, what would they be?

    Intense. Painful. Thought-provoking.

What other book might you compare 11-22-63 to and why?

In terms of length and depth of story, I'd compare it to other King books like The Stand and the Talisman.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I have a favorite, but don't want to give away any spoilers.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It was a very long book and took a couple of weeks, but I never WANTED to put it down.

    Any additional comments?

It's been a couple of years since I read this one and it's still with me. I've never been so affected by fictional characters! I still feel their joys and pain, and my favorite scene still makes my heart hurt. I didn't want it to end.

I will give it another year, then listen again. The Stand was my favorite book ever since it first came out--until 11-22-63, so it dethroned a masterpiece.
