Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. The story which is all three books, moves along. The reader does a good job of voices and gets you into the story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hard to say. Vic Wingate was portrayed greatly as someone you want to hate...

What does Tom Weiner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

His voices made you feel the character's emotions.

If you could rename Bad Moon Rising, what would you call it?

    Hell night has cometh.

After traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness's enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew's ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches - with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely! The best part of this is the narrator Jennifer Ikeda. She brings this book, these characters to life. A excellent finale to the series.

    Any additional comments?

Without a doubt the foundation is laid for another sequel I only hope Jennifer is the reader.

The nightmare home. We thought we'd found our haven, a cottage deep in the heart of the forest. Quaint, charming, maybe a little run-down, but so peaceful. The woodland animals and birds couldn't have been more neighbourly. That was the first part of the Magic. Midge's painting and my music soared to new heights of creativity. That was another part of the Magic. Our sensing, our feelings, our love for each other - well, that became the supreme Magic. But the cottage had an alternative side. The Bad Magic.

What disappointed you about The Magic Cottage?

The story never really got going till the very end. The ending seemed rushed. After listening to The secret of crickety hall by Herbert, which was great, this was a disappointment.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I will in the future give James Herbert another try.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Kris Dyer?

Yes, his narration was good with emotions.

What character would you cut from The Magic Cottage?

several, did not care for the story line.

Now, picking up from A Discovery of Witches' cliff-hanger ending, Shadow of Night plunges Diana Bishop and Matthew Clairmont into Elizabethan London, a world of spies, subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew's old friends, the mysterious School of Night that includes Christopher Marlowe and Walter Raleigh. Here, Diana must locate a witch to tutor her in magic, Matthew is forced to confront a past he thought he had put to rest, and the mystery of Ashmole 782 deepens. Deborah Harkness has crafted a gripping journey through a world of alchemy, time travel, and magical discoveries.

Would you listen to Shadow of Night again? Why?

Yes I would in order to follow the clues to what is happening.

Which character – as performed by Jennifer Ikeda – was your favorite?

Isobode and Phillip. The Emperor, all of them she did such a fantastic job of capturing the individual characters. The book is long and full of things the reader just would not know anything about, if the narration was not as good as it was I do not know if I would have actually read the book.

Who was the most memorable character of Shadow of Night and why?

Phillip. The scene in the barn was most memorable.

    Any additional comments?

The narration by Jennifer Ikeda was what made this book stand out. Well done!!

Deep in the stacks of Oxford's Bodleian Library, young scholar Diana Bishop unwittingly calls up a bewitched alchemical manuscript in the course of her research. Descended from an old and distinguished line of witches, Diana wants nothing to do with sorcery; so after a furtive glance and a few notes, she banishes the book to the stacks. But her discovery sets a fantastical underworld stirring, and a horde of daemons, witches, and vampires soon descends upon the library.

If you could sum up A Discovery of Witches in three words, what would they be?

    Outstanding narrator

What other book might you compare A Discovery of Witches to and why?

probably twilight although I didn't' read that

Have you listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

She made the book. Her ability was exceptional. I stayed with it because of her ability.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No. Very long and until chapter 20 or so I almost stopped.
