I was referred to this book by a friend of mine at work. I got it immediately and then put off reading it for a year. Once I did start reading it my eyes opened. In this book the author will go into great detail about technologies we know about, yet we can't use. He goes into detail about how we can do more than we think we can if we simply turn off all the programming we're receiving from around us. I went to a meditation center as suggested in the book and did meditation in a pyramid and found it to be a much deeper practice than I was able to get at home without one. I've talked to many people and they had the same experience. The author goes into incredible depth into what the Mayan Calendar really says and why I can't listen to the news and the 2012 end of the world lie we're being fed. I did go a step further beyond reading this book and watch his video's on Youtube and I got one from his website. Aside from the all the information being in one place concerning technologies we know about, yet can't use, the Mayan Calendar this is a great book for personal growth. I've used the information here to help me unlock my Chakra's and being to bring myself into balance. Which I couldn't do with meditation alone.
I have been going through and listening to all the classics that have been made into movies. Here is another example where the book is thousands of time better than any movie. In the movies they leave, so much out that it actually ruins the story now that I’ve read the book. Here you will read a story that takes you into the mind of dog before people were even considering dog psychology. You will journey through the gold rush through the eyes and thoughts of Bucks and when it’s done you’ll love the story. I recommend this for parents of kids interesting in reading it to their kids.
After years of meditation I still had questions. Here Deepak answers a lot of questions that would have taken years of reading or talking to people to get the answers we need. I like the answers and they make sense. The simple answers are always the hardest to find and figure out. If you are into meditation and awakening your higher consciousness this talk will help you.
If they had made the true story of the ‘Minority Report’ into a movie it would have flopped. Gee what would Tom Cruise do? The truth is I like this story better than any movie and its better. The second story was ‘We Can Remember It For You Wholesale’ which was the basis for ‘Total Recall’. Which all I can say is it’s different from any movie. It’s nice to see where they came up with ‘Total Recall’. As soon as I heard the beginning of ‘Paycheck’ I thought of the Ben Affleck movie called ‘Paycheck’. Hearing this story the movie Ben Affleck makes more sense. I like this version better and it’s better and shorter. The next is ‘Second Variety’ and it was the basis for the movie ‘Screamers’. Which was a good 80’s movie. The original story is great! I love it without all the Hollywood mumbo jumbo in it! It’s too bad they tried to ‘enhance it with their ‘magic’ because it ended up ruining the story. The Eyes Have It - Just sit back and laugh!
I when I was training in Buddhism I was taught to look at death now! I’d never thought of death before and this was new. When I ran into this training again in the Free Masons I was prepared for it. I found it liberating to meditate on death and dying. This has caused me to resolve all ‘issues’ with people in my life. Here Deepak answers questions about death and the importance of accepting it. All the great teachers have told us to except death and not fear it. Enjoy this journey here on this world or this plain of existence. Listen to this book and it will help you. I haven’t listened to any of the other books by Deepak on this subject. Maybe after this I will, but after talking to others who have I and with my background I probably won’t.
I used to be in the Marines which many people believe is only a level one leader (Position). However, anyone that has read this book will tell you that Position and Title only get action. You want the hearts and minds of the people following you. I learned that early on in my military career. When I left the military I’ve seen many leaders that see themselves as level 5 leaders when really they’re level 1 at best. Too many people see themselves through their perceptions. This book will help you to understand why you need to look at the whole picture and not the perception. This has also helped me to identify my leaders level and see why the Law of the Lid is causing me to look elsewhere. If you are a ‘non-leader’ or a seasoned veteran this book will help you.
Here we have a man that can see and hear all the spirits around him. He calls them ‘Aspects’ of himself. They can interact with the world through him and even in a time of need share his body. I believe this is meant to be the first in a long running series of books. We see him solve problems and mysteries. We see the complex problems have the most basic solutions. I recommend this book anyone that wants a short read.
As a single guy out dating this book was a great help! It reminded me that it’s not about meeting someone and listening to respond. It’s about listening with the intent to add value to that person. I’ve seen my second date chances increase over 50% as I’ve gotten more second dates. I’ve also been reminded that where I was applying these habits in the office I need to apply them everywhere and in all aspects of my life. John C. Maxwell does a lot to help people and I enjoy his work immensely. I just wish they weren’t going through and ‘updating’ his books with new narrators. I have some of his books on CD still and I liked him reading them. This narrator is the best out of the new group of narrators I’ve listen to thus far. If you're looking for a boost in your life, dating or work relationships this simple easy to read book is for you.
We’ve all seen or have heard about the movie ‘I, Robot’ with Will Smith. I always said we were missing more of the back story. Here we get it. Isaac Asimov has set a future in which the human race is living in large covered cities afraid to venture out and to change. Our colonies which we settled 1,000 years ago come back to help us. They end up doing it in am most unexpected way. Heck, they didn’t even see it coming. The story centers around a murder and it’s investigation and at the end of the investigation more has been solved than a simple murder. I just wish Audible had the ‘Naked Sun’ available, so I could complete the series without getting an actual book to read.
When I first started reading this book I thought I was reading a part of the Count of Monte Cristo. Then as it progressed I felt I was reading the ‘Dream Giver’ and realized this book is what Brian Wilkins was trying to achieve when he wrote his book. The Alchemist was written 20 years earlier and it a great story. The ‘Dream Giver’ always left me wanting more. Here the author give us more and then some. This book ties in very well with ‘Infinite Possibilities by Mike Dooley’ extremely well as well as ‘Excuse Me Your Life Is Waiting by Lynn Grabhron’. Here we meet a young man who thinks he has it all and is content with life, but his dreams tell him there is more out there. He pursues it and the story begins. After reading it I’ve removed the ‘Dream Giver’ from my recommended list and have replaced it with this book instead.
If your looking for a traditional 'self-help' book then keep going. This book is more about core Buddhist principles in the sense that it was more about explaining a theory then directly speaking to you. You will learn things like: People want happiness, not suffering. Lust and hatred are rooted in ignorance. The key to solving this is through meditation.
From here it keeps going. If you want a guide as to why meditation is needed here it is.
