Messy character development, the sisters were fun and believable in the first book of this series. In this book they come across as crude. The other characters were flat. They never really came to life.
M.C. Beaton is both a fun listen or read. I doubt that I will continue this series as an audiobook.
I will continue listening to this genre
Anne Flosnik is a wonderful performer. I have found some of my favorite books by searching her name.
I enjoyed the characters and as the last of a series it was an impressive finale.
The beauty of this book is that all the characters major and minor stand out. I enjoyed both the good guys and the bad guys. I can visualize the villains and the heroes as well as all the supporting players (why I think it is a 5 star story).
Richard Ferrone who gave an excellent performance in the Recorded books release in 1998. I think a male narrator is a good choice but Naramore characters and emotional passages were very inconsistent. He over did female emotions and southern black dialect.
The narrator has a plesant voice but no range. No character has a distinct voice. Men and women all sound the same which makes for a boring listen. I read M.M. Kaye's Death in mystery series and know them to be an exciting series. This narrator just put me to sleep.
She was unable to create distinct characters. I think the best narrators are good actors who create and project a range of personalities.
Great story, great narrator! I found the story very engaging and enjoyed all the characters. A great love story with out over writing scenes of passion.
