Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

This book, and indeed the series is by far the most favorite series I have read. Diana Gabaldin is a master at her craft. She has so much detail in the story and its truly appreciated to have the story so involved with the characters and the 'canvas of the scenery painted' so vividly. Its also very interesting to hear of the historical events that I previously had no knowledge of, and told in such a personal way that one feels they are there with them. There is humor, tradegy and romance in each page. Davina Porter is a wonderful Narrator whose use of the various accents is wonderful...and her pronunciation and the expression in her voice fantastic. I am listening to the series for the fourth time! I dont usually enjoy female Narrators...but Davina is exceptional, and I forget that there is just one person reading. The length of the story is one of the best!!

This is Part One of A Dance With Dragons. The fifth volume in the greatest epic work of the modern age, George R R Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire, this recording is unabridged and split into two parts. The future of the Seven Kingdoms hangs in the balance. In the east, Daenerys, last scion of House Targaryen, her dragons grown to terrifying maturity, rules as queen of a city built on dust and death, beset by enemies.

Historic Prince Edward Island in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence is the scene of this charming romance, which has captivated generations of readers young and old. Anne, the orphan child who brings happiness and love into the lives of her foster parents, is one of the most beloved heroines in all literature. But life was not kind to her at the start of her great adventure. For when Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert, living alone, decided to adopt a child from the local orphanage, they asked for a boy.
