In one day, the world succumbed to a pestilence that decimated the living. In its place rose a new species: vicious, gruesome, wandering zombies with an insatiable hunger for the living. There is no government. No shelter. No hope.

I REALLY enjoyed this book. It was fast paced, great characters and wonderful flow of story. Created around the symbolism of Dant e's Inferno, it is an awesome zombie tale. No boredom here! Well worth the credit or the price.

PNR, romance, throw in some great characters, very interesting new world. The lead kicks ass as a strong female. Fast action, gods, shifters, vamps, and many other beings. I listened to first two books in less than two days. The narrator is perfect for the characters, though she needs to brush up on her pronunciation. This would normally drive me crazy, but the story is so engrossing, I ignored it. There are only a few words she needs to work on, which also made it easier to overlook. Anxiously waiting for the rest of this series & will automatically download once they are available. Worth the credit or the price :)

Potential, didn't pan out. Narrator only had one character that she did well. I got bored and found nothing redeeming in any of the characters. Like I said, in the end, I just didn't care what happened to any of them. Female lead was weak & whiny, males were inconsistent and not very strong. I was not happy with the overall experience.

Jace's return to Kansas is an instant reminder that there really is no place like home. The tavern is still brimming with losers, practical jokers, and motorcycle chicks. Even the town's only Goth is still wearing eyeliner. But just as Jace is about to click her heels and hightail out of there, she's roped into a brand-new case. Somebody is possessed. And the bodies are piling up....

I was a little wary of what this last book may be in the end due to many of the reviews I read prior to listening to this one. Upon listening to the last sentence of this story, I couldn't help but smile. The ending was perfectly suited to this series :) I couldn't have imagined a better way for this to go. No spoiler here. You'll just have to see what you think for yourself. I say worth the price or credit. Narration was perfect all the way through. I listened to all 6 books over a 4 day period and found them thoroughly entertaining. Very pleased.

There WAS potential, but it never took off. Narration was awful, as in there was only one character she did half well. It was not good. The story was half hearted, sexual tension was tepid at most, dialog was difficult to listen to and didn't flow naturally. I'd like to say that another narrator might make a difference. I just don't think so. Not worth credit or price. I was very disappointed.

I do love Stephen King's stories, however, this one, not so much. Maybe I've become more difficult to terrify over the years, but there's nothing that I found even remotely scary in this tale. Narration was great, characters were good, story was interesting. That was pretty much it for me. Sorry :(

I'll admit I purchased this book for the narrator. I love J.Parker's narration and look for any books she's done. A wonderful surprise is that this book was awesome! I loved the story, characters and narration. There's vamps, weres, etc, sexual tension, great concept for a genre that's one of my favorites and for what appears to be a series. I downloaded book 2 before I finished the first. Well worth the credit or the price. Hope it continues past book 2 and with J.Parker narration. :) I'll be following this author and this series for more.

Ignatius Perrish spent the night drunk and doing terrible things. He woke up the next morning with a thunderous hangover, a raging headache, and a pair of horns growing from his temples. At first Ig thought the horns were a hallucination, the product of a mind damaged by rage and grief. He had spent the last year in a lonely, private purgatory, following the death of his beloved, Merrin Williams, who was raped and murdered under inexplicable circumstances.

I'm not sure what I expected, but I really enjoyed this book. I can hear the "King" influence in parts of the story, but, predominantly all his own style. The lovable characters were easy to love, the hateful ones, easy to dislike. The story was quite original and I enjoyed the play on good vs evil, (not always so black and white). I've purchased NOS4A2, and I'm a 1/3 of the way through. At this point, I enjoyed Horns much more. I will keep looking for more by Hill, based on my experience with Horns. Now that I know he can create a story like Horns, I'm hooked. Worth the credit or price. Narration was perfect for this!

    Story

I guess I have become spoiled in what my expectations are from JF. I've LOVED the Cat & Bones series since the start and the spin off series from those books. Needless to say I have all of those and was anxiously awaiting this new series. Maybe this was just a soft beginning to what may get to the level of what I have found to be her usual level of stories. I hope so. I'll probably download the next in this series with that hope in mind. I won't be as eager to do so, though. I found the lead character to be a bit whiny, immature for her supposed age of 20 and not interesting in her overall role in the story. The lead male has lots of potential and I'm hoping to see him fill out, too.Tavia Gilbert as narrator helped since her familiar style kept me listening just in case things improved. There is a lot of potential in the story line, so I'm hoping JF will rise to her level which I have grown to know and love.

I must say that I purchased this book not really knowing what to expect. The reviews on it were mixed. I have to say it was great! So much so that I was downloading book two before I finished the first. There are wereanimals, shape shifters, vampires and some really cool new creatures. There was humor, sex, great dialog and great characters. The narration is perfect for the characters in the story. I have already finished book two and I am REALLY hoping that there will be MORE! Worth the credit or the price. I'll be looking for more by this author :)
