The title character from ABC's hit television series Castle kicks off his new series of books featuring tough and sexy New York police detective Nikki Heat with a bang.

Okay, so any one that watches the show should know what the book is going to be like. I like the wackiness of the show and the book mirrors it. Good listen if you like to relax and have fun.

Every five minutes, a transplant candidate dies while waiting for a heart, a liver, a kidney. Imagine a technology that could provide those life-saving transplant organs for a nominal fee...and imagine what a company would do to get a monopoly on that technology.

Would you listen to Ancestor again? Why?

I relisten to books that I like. Some, several times.

Have you listened to any of Scott Sigler’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

    Yes. Same crazy guy.

    Any additional comments?

Anyone can get Sigler’s books for free via his podcast but I buy them here in their complete form. One, because I don’t want to wait for the next episode and two, because I want to give him money so he will continue to write. I like that he reads his own work. He reads with a lot of energy and passion. Definitely not a “polished actor” and I like it. I do not like it when he kills off a character that he has made me care about. And yet I continue to listen to his stuff. The jerk.

The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history—how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

If Bill O'Reilly said that the sky was blue, people would come out of the woodwork to disagree with him. Likewise, anytime a historical book is written, people have disagreements. I enjoyed the book and learned from it.

In this volume, Elayne, Aviendha, and Mat come ever closer to the bowl ter'angreal that may reverse the world's endless heat wave and restore natural weather. Egwene begins to gather all manner of women who can channel: Sea Folk, Windfinders, Wise Ones, and some surprising others. And above all, Rand faces the dread Forsaken Sammael, in the shadows of Shadar Logoth, where the blood-hungry mist, Mashadar, waits for prey.

I was hoping that the series would pick up but the muck gets thicker and thicker. I prayed that characters would get killed off so I won't have to put up with them any longer but he just didn't do it. So, I had to. They all die and the Dark One takes over and no one will ever have to read these books again. There is a kind and loving God. Moving on. I'll find another Kate Reading narration to sooth me.

From the author of the bestselling E=MC2 comes a mesmerizing journey of discovery illuminating the wondrous yet unseen force that permeates our world and the scientists who've probed its secrets. Before 1790, when Alessandro Volta began the scientific investigation that spurred an explosion of knowledge and invention, electricity was perceived as little more than a property of certain substances that sparked when rubbed.

Another geek book but I loved it. Gives a good overview of the history of electricity and really kept my interest. A lot of fun if you like this sort of thing.

Before cell phones that fit in the palm of your hand and slim laptops that fit snugly into briefcases, computers were like strange, alien vending machines. They had cryptic switches, punch cards, and pages of encoded output. But in 1975, a young engineering wizard named Steve Wozniak had an idea: What if you combined computer circuitry with a regular typewriter keyboard and a video screen?

Finally out of the celebrity spotlight and away from her mother's demands, Cilla is free to do what she loves: fixing up houses for profit. Her current project is personal. The Shenandoah Valley farm house was once the vacation home of Hollywood luminary Janet Hardy, Cilla's grandmother. When Cilla uncovers a stash of her grandmother's private letters, and begins asking questions about the past, she becomes the target of a crazed killer.

I did not know who Nora Roberts was when I purchased this book. The story sounded interesting to me so I got it. I did take some abuse from my wife and daughter when they found out but it was a good story and I'm secure in my manhood. I will probably read more of her books and I don't care who know it.

This ambitious, electrifying work traces the harrowing journey of the famed Sarajevo Haggadah, a beautifully illuminated Hebrew manuscript created in 15th-century Spain.

When it falls to Hanna Heath, an Australian rare-book expert, to conserve this priceless work, the series of tiny artifacts she discovers in its ancient binding - an insect wing fragment, wine stains, salt crystals, a white hair - only begin to unlock its deep mysteries.

I really impressed my Jewish friends with my knowledge of their faith after reading this book. Actually, I think that they were just stunned that I knew anything at all. I don't normally read fictionalized history(?) but I was intrigued when I heard about the book on “This is Audible” so I thought it might be worth a credit and I was not disappointed.

Across America, a mysterious pathogen transforms ordinary people into raging killers, psychopaths driven by a terrifying, alien agenda. The human race fights back, yet after every battle the disease responds, adapts, using sophisticated strategies and brilliant ruses to fool its pursuers. The only possible explanation: the epidemic is driven not by evolution but by some malevolent intelligence.

Uranium is a common element in the earth's crust and the only naturally occurring mineral with the power to end all life on the planet. After World War II, it reshaped the global order---whoever could master uranium could master the world. Marie Curie gave us hope that uranium would be a miracle panacea, but the Manhattan Project gave us reason to believe that civilization would end with apocalypse.

Lisbeth Salander—the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels—lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority.

Fantastic trilogy. Sorry that it's over. I read somewhere that the books were about women's rights so I was expecting a barrage of liberal drivel out of the NOW handbook. I was happily incorrect. The book does point out predjudices towards women by some of the characters but they are made out to be idiots that need a sharp blow to the side of the head.
