Not able to...This is a good story that makes you think and makes you want to sympathize with the character. The handmaid walks you through life after turmoil where no woman has a mind of her own and is treated as property but only valued if she can produce. The way it is written it seems that it is not too far from what could really happen.
I liked that through the trials the main character kept herself together and found positivity in her situation.
She makes the story sound real as though she was the character telling the story as if it happened to her.
It would be the wife. She does not play a huge part in the story but I would want to know her true feelings about the situation. I know that she has to feel inadequate BUT to talk to her about her role specifically and what goes through her head during the ritual.
Yes. Audio gives the characters personality.
I love this series. Even though there are some very kinky things going on, the relationship between the characters is awesome. It almost makes you think the story could be true. This book does have some graphic M/M sex scenes that I am not comfortable with. I skipped over those parts which was kind of irritating.
Everything! I could tell who was talking and when. They had emotions, it sounded natural and not faked. She did very good job!
If you can get past the M/M the story is great. Obviously, I just skipped over those parts instead of giving up on the book all together. Start the series and read in order. The development is incredible you won't be disappointed.
The book keeps you guessing and involved.
There were many but there was one part where I had to rewind so that I could figure out who was in the bed with Blank!!!
His voice matches the character Delaney perfectly. I can visualize him talking just as Vietor speaks.
On some parts I did. There can be parts of this book that are "unconventional" and if you take it for what it is (entertainment) it may not bother you. If you take it to heart you may or may not be able to get past some parts.
From the books that I have read so far, this book is different. Mostly I have been reading about sexy vampires but in this book they are horrific creatures. There is a twist on what I have come to know as paranormal...which is a good thing. This book shakes it up a little bit.
At this point there is nothing I can compare it to. I must say, you do have to pay attention to some detail. I'm not really used to that. This is a detective type series and you can miss some important things if you don't pay attention.
Her voice is perfect for Kate. However, for i think two of the men there is not much inflection which can be confusing. If details are given about what the voice should sound like she tries to make the character sound like that but if not they can sound very similar.
Nothing that really made me want to cry there are I think two moments that make you want to hold your breath a little. I won't say which moments because I think it will give too much away.
It was not what I expected...in a good way. It is most definitely one of the best stories I've listened to recently.
I like the fact that it is original. It's not your ordinary ghost story. It's a long story, but because you are so into the story you don't realize the time.
Honestly, there are too many good parts for me to choose one. There are sad ones, happy ones and even some sexy ones ;)
Not your average gohst story. Nothing you would expect. Mingled lives of the here and thereafter.
I was impressed. I think this will be one I listen to again.
This was my first time ever listening or reading this book.
The Emperor is my favorite. His lines are kind of limited in comparison but the book would not be the same without him. He adds more character to the book.
She was much better than some of the other narrators that I have come accross. You could tell the characters apart so she was far from monotone which can really ruin a book.
No and not in a bad way. The pace of the book is moderate and allows you to read that way. You are able to take breaks in the story. Even though the book has suspense there is some comedy relief that allows you to pace yourself.
This book was nothing like what I expected. I'm thinking it would be a "normal" vampire love story when I started...NOT!!! I actually started the audiobook over because my mindset going in was wrong. This is a witty, different kind of vampire book...and I like it. I am now a fan of the author and the series and will continue to read/listen.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes traditional romance. You can tell this book was from her earlier years (before BDB). That's not a bad thing...it's just different.
I liked A.J. She is very spunky and she grows up throughout the book. The change looks good on her.
She was able to individualize the characters which is hard for some narrators to do.
There are a few.
When reading this book you have to separate this one from any BDB thoughts you may have. This is a good book but don't go into it thinking just because it's J.R. Ward it's like BDB. You will like it if you read out...just don't compare. It's a reply different ball game.
For me...yes. I am very busy and I love having the option of listening while doing other tasks.
I liked the part when Cheshire went to her building after the intruder came in. It kind of puts you on edge because you don't know who they are or what they are looking for.
She puts feeling into the characters so that they seem like real people. You are able to connect to the characters better.
Hmmmm... this is hard. There are so many dynamics. There is action, dysfuncton, romance (very little and not erotic but it works), suspence etc. that it would be hard to put all of that in a tag line.
I need the next book ;0)
I would only try if the narrator was different.
Belgarath is an interesting character but you have to think to hard because the narration is not done well. Most of the characters sound the same so there is no individuality.
I think that he was trying too hard. He would be better suited as a sports announcer. He doesn't have a bad voice (deep and rumbly like Jim Frangione) BUT it sounded like it was his first book. He was overzealous in his attempt to narrate this book. His voice would work for maybe one or two characters in the book but NOT all of them.
The book is long BUT the story is good. If you can get past the narration you would enjoy it. I could not so I did not finish the book.
The length is a blessing and a curse. It allows you to follow the story in magnificent detail which allows you to get closer to the characters. I loved it so much I did not want it to end.
I can't pick just one between Claire and Jamie. They come as a package deal. The chemistry they have from the moment they meet is subtle yet obvious.
She gives individuality to the characters.
It did both. There were some tear jerker moments along with some things that make you shake your head with humorous delight.
I've tried listening to other long audiobooks but sometimes it gets a bit tedious. I did not feel that way at all with this book. I wish I was longer b.c I would have kept on listening.
