Not for me, didn't like it. I thought I would recognize the stories from some favorite writers (Michael Connelly) but no... Stay with your tried and true.
It is probably just me but I don't find this storyline remotely interesting. I did listen to the entire book hoping for a turnaround. But not. Now I know why I never watched the TV show.
Boring. Sorry. Maybe it livened up when he became an adult but I can't get through little Winston.
I really did not like this book. I suffered through it because of "not finishing a book" guilt or something. It was a horror movie in writing on pages. I am not against horror movies but this plot was TOOOOO LOOONNNGGG. It went back and forth and here and there. If it had been at least one third shorter (think film editing), it might have been ok.
This was a different approach. Liked it, didn't love it. I might try another by this author.
Thanks to Ace Atkins for channeling RBP's essence and Joe M for making it live. RBP gone too soon.
Just the usual - I love Robt. B. Parker and I love Joe Mantegna. Unbeatable combo.
This is an interesting story, told from an interesting perspective, a narrative of the main character.
This one is really good. (They are all good). Characters are developing nicely. I am glad I am reading them in chronological order!
This book was "OK". I can't say much more than that. The plot and characters were a bit hard to follow which is not good for an audible book.
I know the Wobegon stories have become classics. If I read this one instead of listening, I very well may have liked it. The narration didn't work for me. I typically listen in my car. Garrison speaks way to softly to hear while in the car with ambient sounds. And his cadence will entrance you - literally, put you in a trance. I did love that old lady!!!
