The audio editing has been done carelessly, resulting in needless ERROR of facts - e.g. in the audio book the Professor says, Julius Cesar changed his name to Augustus, in the PDF the same section has the correct FULL NAME for Octavius, who changed his same to Augustus. Problem is, how many other mistakes are there????
It's great information, but it's accuracy is harmed by the careless audio editing.
The Professor has great information, but it's very obvious that he's reading from the written page, he sounds rushed, reading without imparting his actual understanding of the information. No doubt if he were actually lecturing for real, the sense of the words would come through naturally. The performance makes it hard to comprehend the information.
It is definitely worth listening to, it's a very interesting subject. But frankly, with the mistakes, it's hard to get too enthusiastic until the audio book has be re-edited and the performance worked on. BUT THE INFORMATION IS FASCINATING, I'm writing this, precisely because I'm hoping this repair work will be done, then it will be a really great lecture!
The Professor makes a mistake saying 1504 instead of 1604 somewhere ... it was probably in the section on Elizabethan spycraft.
High Spiritual Truths articulated with astonishing clarity.
If like myself, you've been listening or reading Eckhart Tolle and Caroline Myss (wonderful spiritual teachers that they are!), you'll know there's many common threads weaving throughout both their works, but with astonishing clarity, James Finley manages to express these same truths and more, with such a sincere heart and with such a brilliantly intelligent choice of words, you get it like never before - you really do 'evolve' with each listening!
Mr. Finley has raised his consciousness to a level where he has become extraordinarily adept at using his mind to translate that non-languaged experience of being, Soul communications, into plain English, well, more like plain-poetry, if you get my meaning! Because what he says, is like the experience of reading poetry, but unlike poetry, there's very little ambiguity.
It's a tremendous pleasure to have the ‘unlanguageable’ experience of spiritual truth, somehow brought down into words, so you can find the help you want (and need!) for your own spiritual work to progress.
High levels of understanding you get in flashes, not thoughts, flashes of truth you don’t have to turn back into words to know that you just had your consciousness raised. Where your heart floods with the awe that comes with understanding, and the understanding that you just evolved! And you can never go back to the way you were! Wonderful!
I'm so grateful for this wonderful audio book! And I am so grateful for the effort Caroline and James have made in their lives to grasp these truths and pass them on in a way where many many people get the benefit of their very hard work.
What a great blessing for all that get the chance to listen to this... what a blessing.
I love this book and listening to it as an audio book makes it all the more powerful, Dean Robertson makes sense of the poetic nature of this book and gives life to the characters ... perhaps some people have not enjoyed Dean Robertson, but I can't really make sense of their objections? On the strength of this audio book, I also bought the book for my kindle, so I can savor the beauty of Ms. Kingsolver's wonderful writing, but I have to say, I prefer to listen to Dean Robertson.
I spent a whole weekend listening to this story on my iPod - I couldn't break myself from the journey of the book - transported to the Congo, I lay about, or walked slowing through the Hollywood Hills in a sort of trance, I listened and listened ... so beautiful, so soulful ... the characters and their story moved me greatly, I highly recommend it.
