It is January, and Park Ranger Anna Pigeon is sent to Isle Royale in Lake Superior to learn about managing and understanding wolves, as her home base of Rocky Mountain National Park might soon have its own pack of the magnificent, much-maligned animals. But what was once an idyllic refuge becomes a place of unnatural occurrences and danger beyond the ordinary.

Loved the story. She does talk a lot of science but that's why I loved it. It was a good mix between my two great loves, nature and mystery!

I don't know if it was my excitement to start my other book or spring fever but I really struggled through the last half of this book. I enjoyed the first book quite a bit, especially Ms. Peabody's personality and to hell with societies expectations but this one seemed much slower than the first. It probably could have been shorter and perhaps it was the supporting characters that made it less exciting than the first, but there it is. Still worth a read but just a bit lagging on and on and on.

Amelia Peabody inherited two things from her father: a considerable fortune and an unbendable will. The first allowed her to indulge in her life's passion. Without the second, the mummy's curse would have made corpses of them all.

Old school British archaeological adventure with wit! It kept my interest and did surprise me in spots. There were a couple moments that dragged a bit but otherwise it was a fun listen. The narrator did a good job.

I found it a bit of a struggle to get through, luckily it's a shortie. As a fan of the movies It was interesting to hear how it came to be and was impressed that the movie held true to the original story as it did. It's been awhile since I watched them and probably should watch and listen again and maybe I could follow it better, but overall I found myself getting a little lost from time to time. The narrator didn't really distinguish the characters well and I kept getting lost on who was doing what when. However, I was impressed by the scientific aspects in the book considering the time at which it was written.

Other than the bullet lodged less than a centimeter from his heart, former Detroit police officer Alex McKnight thought he had put the nightmare of his partner’s death and his own near-fatal injury behind him. After all, Maximilian Rose, convicted of the crimes has been locked in the state pen for years. But in the small town of Paradise, Michigan, where McKnight has traded his badge for a cozy cabin in the woods, a murderer with Rose’s unmistakable trademarks appears to be back to his killing ways.

Blah, First it's annoying when writers don't use contractions, nobody talks like that and it sounds forced. The story was ok, but the protagonist makes some silly decisions and misses the obvious. The dialogue is equally lacking and unrealistic. I finished it but was a bit bored.

The narrator was great and I really got sucked in to the characters story, but I guess I failed to realize that this was just a prequel, so I was left with a wtf feeling. So you will want to keep on with the series. Otherwise great but hoy, just what I need another series...

Something terrible has happened in the snowbound village of Kingdom Come, Wyoming, where 12 eerily identical houses stand dark and abandoned. Meals remain untouched on dining room tables, cars are still in garages, and the town's residents have vanished into thin air. This is the disturbing setting where vacationing medical examiner Maura Isles and her traveling companions find themselves trapped during a ferocious snowstorm.

    Story

I am probably bias as I watch the show, but I have grown attached to the character's personality on the show and the characters in the book, seem lacking. Maura is presented is mousy and weak but I don't think that is necessarily true to her character, at least not the character I have grown accustomed to. The same with Rizzoli, I don't think she would be as passive either.
The story was ok. Again, decisions made by the characters didn't seem to fit the personalities I know. It also seemed to wrap up quickly. It drags on throughout and then boom its over.
The narrator was OK, but seemed to have problems with some of the male voices, making them sound kind of silly.
I did enjoy the twists and found myself hurrying back to the car to find out what happened next. I am also intrigued as to the ending, a small section is left open. Again, not the worst but not the best either, but enough to keep my interest.

Not bad. It did what it was supposed to which was pull me in and cause me to want to get the rest of the books in the series. Its not bad. Im not leaping to use a credit right now but it hooked me in. It jumps around to flashbacks a lot which I found a bit annoying. The narrator is ok. She doesn't do guys voices well but is ok. Not the worst I've heard by far. Worth a listen.

This trilogy is awesome. I am not a romancy girl but these stories had mystery excitement and a perfect touch of magic and fantasy. Yea yea the romance was ok too. I got sucked into the characters quite quickly and pretty much listened back to back. Really couldn't put them down, in the car, in the kitchen, getting ready for bed, nonstop. Good stuff.
