Definitly - I have waited for over 10 years to listen to this performance again - great writer - legendary reader - and a topic and setting that seems to catch the casual interest and drive the point home.
hoe often do we pick up pieces of information about one of histories great heroes and start building that persons identity. Abraham Lincoln was an irreproachable man, one full of premise and promise. he over came such obsticles as to place him in a position of considerable power. and what did he do with that power. he was a humanitarian and a thespian and patriot. few men who have lived have had his qualities. great men are in a class of their own. great leaders are legendary. I was offended by the title - but not wanting to judge the book by its cover I ventured to look into this story. after reading it - and going away each time with an offense to the deepest level - this man was not fanatic nor a demonist - it is clear he had anger issues - but no murderous malace was ever known of lincoln and never will be. he was a law maker not a law breaker - he had integrity and self preservation. even if this perversion of normality was true - lincoln would never fit this roll -
I enjoyed the book dont let the average rating stop you. There were flaws in the story and in the plot and parts I believe in my limited experience that could have been better. For the most part the typical demon slave novel was explained well. I dont think i will be recommending it to anyone - but i count it on my shelf as read and finished. I completed 4 books in this series and would give them all the adulation of a youth novella. meant for younger readers then me - the dual main character is a hard thing to write but the author seemed to handle it well. I wish he would have spent more time with this kid version of the wizard instead of growing him to a greasy pubescent. The development of the world was very limited and the description of the world around them was as you would expect in a pre-teen novel - lack luster at best. the writing seemed to focus on the action and the interaction of personalities and a development of emotional connection - which really didnt take place. I have never really associated with demons - but I know a fair share of smart kids and this one seemed more daft and stone faced not nearly as lively or random as the real deal. i had a hard time buying into the story and an even harder time trying to make particulars stick. if you enjoyed harry potter - this book will entertain you - if you find pre-teen novels abit beneath your entertainment level try something a bit more edgy.
the narrator was great - he made the necessary character stand out from each other audibly
