In this sweeping, threaded narrative of the global phenomenon known as the Vampire Wars, mankind is unwittingly infected by a millennia-old bacteria unknowingly exhumed by a scientific expedition in Antarctica. Now, in some rare cases, a person’s so-called junk DNA becomes activated. Depending on their racial and ethnic heritage, they begin to manifest one of the many diverse forms of the "others" that are the true basis for the legends of supernatural creatures. These aren’t your usual vampires and werewolves - it goes much deeper than that.

What would have made V Wars better?

I could not get past the third story, it was really just horribly disjointed maybe it got better, but I just could not continue, not even the narration pulled me in.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

May have gotten better after the three I had listened to, the premise was interesting which is why I had picked it. It just didn't work for me.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Would you listen to 14 again? Why?

It was not what I had thought it would be, I enjoyed the suspense and the way the story changed and evolved.

What did you like best about this story?

Narration was awesome. All the character's voices fit them, and the narrator did an excellent job of going between chars with out slipping, which really allows me to just fall into the book and enjoy the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to, but it is a nice long book, just don't have that kind of time :) It did have good stopping points where it wasn't too hard to put down and catch back up.

Brian Hare, dog researcher, evolutionary anthropologist, and founder of the Duke Canine Cognition Center, and Vanessa Woods offer revolutionary new insights into dog intelligence and the interior lives of our smartest pets. In the past decade, we have learned more about how dogs think than in the last century. Breakthroughs in cognitive science, pioneered by Brian Hare, have proven dogs have a kind of genius for getting along with people that is unique in the animal kingdom.

    Any additional comments?

This book was not really a book on dogs, but more a broad book on the development of domestication and socialization of species, dog, chimps, humans.

It was interesting but if you are just looking for something focused on dogs you may want something else like Dog Sense by Bradshaw.

Private investigator Samantha Moon is faced with an impossible decision - a decision that no mother should ever have to make. A decision that will change her life, and those she loves, forever. And through it all, Sam finds herself in a lethal game of vampire vs. vampire as a powerful - and desperate - enemy will stop at nothing to claim what he most desires.

Would you consider the audio edition of Moon Child to be better than the print version?

    Yes

Would you be willing to try another book from J. R. Rain? Why or why not?

Yes, I enjoyed her humor and slightly different take on the typical vampire detective superwoman of the night world.

Have you listened to any of Dina Pearlman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Just the other books in the series that she has read. Performance wasa enjoyable, easy to to get into.

    Any additional comments?

Seemed a bit shorter than the other books, the ending felt rushed, making it feel a bit incomlete or rough.
