I give this one 2 stars for the beginning and the for reader ... Scott Brick, I give 5. It was down hill after the vampire part morphing into endless sci-fi details. I stopped listening before half way. I was spending more time sleeping than listening and wondering why I went back to find out what I had missed. If you like lots of pulp in your OJ this has plenty.
I can't really say because I only got 5 hrs in and that was too much
What is the genre of a book like this ... vampires ???
Anybody would have been better
truth, clarity, heavy
This is a work of art in itself .... Neil wonders if he can write anymore since he has stopped getting high first .... for me his songs have always been about truth and getting to the heart of the matter ... he has done it here
The performance was okay dispite the fact that some Canadian place names were given distinctive new pronunciations.
I am a fan of Neil Young's songs for 45 years or so. He knows how to get a reaction from people whether it be the words or the musical notes and this book is no different. This book is for his fans and he has given a context for his lifelong body of work. I have read numerous other autobiographies and this one is like no other. This book is about life, personal demons and passion and not about ego and fame.
I pray that it is not his way of saying good bye.
Somesthing might happen more frequently
NO I like time travel books but this one is silly ..... another reviewer called it bloat ... I call it boredom
I like time travel books. The reader made the 20 or so hours I listened tolerable. At this point I don't care what happens .... I've had enough endless details about nothing. I have never read a book that moved so slowly. If you like endless nothing going nowhere then this book is for you. I'm just bored with this one.
I struggled with the beginning but the huge number of characters and simultaeous events creates a rich listening (reading) environment. I cannot put myself in the catagory of a Steven King fan but I am now ... also Raul Esparza is a brilliant reader and I thank him for bringing this book to life for me.
One of the most enjoyable reads ever. This is expert writing with amazing drama. I have enjoyed all of the Mitch Rapp stories but this one has a terrifying note of truth and realism that all doves should read. Basically I was a dove util I read this fictional work.
George Guidall is an absolutely brilliant narrator whose character voices are work of art.
I have enjoyed every Nelson DeMille novel but this is the most entertaining. I have found myslef laughing out loud an numerous occassions. Scott Brick is a brilliant professional reader. The conbination is unbeatable. Please keep them coming.
This is the best book I have listened to. The story is entertaining and the narrator is one of the best. That being said ... I did have difficulty figuring out what was going on in the first 45 min. to an hour AND I almost gave up! The action sequences were completely absorbing, the characters were very human and flawed. The narration was nothing short of brilliant. Stick with it and you'll be rewarded.
