This is far too similar to the Hunger Games. The story line drug through a very boring spot during the castle/house medieval period. The lead character lost his appeal when he couldn't make decisions and the story line simply wallowed about. This left me wondering if I'm going to finish listening and not too interested in picking up the next one in line.
I love Anne McCaffrey's stories. I have the whole series in hardback books. I have read and re-read them many times.
I was very disappointed in this recording. The performance was good and I am a fan of Dick Hill. However, the recording sounded like it had another track underneath it as I could hear a shadow voice behind the main sound track. Also, about mid-way of Part 1 the story flipped back and repeated itself for one scene. Don't know why this happened or why the sound track seems flawed.
The first part of the audio book was all about military training and scenarios....I felt it took too long to find the "story". The second part is where the story actually begins and I enjoyed ever bit of the excitement and adventure. The books ends with a good opening for another book.
No - I enjoyed this first experience. The narrator did a fine job - even with the female voices.
Yes - I want to know what happens to the characters from where the book left them.
No - probably not. The basic story was good, but it took far too long to get to the conclusion. Too much time was spent on describing clothing :-(
Mr Hill did a great job. Regardless of the length of the reading he never lost his momentum and he kept the characters separate and realistic.
I dunno - maybe - this was my first book by Morrell.
Childhood rivalries and adult retribution. The action was too over the top! Almost too far fetched.
This was not Dick Hill's best reading. Usually, he does a bang up job. And I've listened to many of his narratives...but this one was odd. His voice slurred often and the accents he tried were wrong. The female voices were "off". Maybe he was as bored with the story as I was.
Nope! Didn't much enjoy the characters....so I don't feel the need for a sequel.
The story line disintegrated into a porno/sex thing. I'm not fond of British mysteries to begin with and this story just didn't work for me.
Narrator was good enough for the story.
Got to the "yuck" part and just quit listening.
Just my opinion...but this story was a fail.
Not really. Took too long to get going...lost my interest quickly.
Outstanding story. It will draw you in. Makeyou think... And make you cry.
The book has many moments.
Story just seemed to keep repeating the same basic scenario over and over. Felt sorry for the dog living in such an environment. Supposedly the story was written from the dog's point of view. Wound up bored with the human's emotions and hang-ups.
Repetitive and no story line.
No problem with the reader
Disappointed and certainly won't purchase the next book in line.
Love the dogs
Well written - well read - gives you an up close and personal look at SAR dogs and their partners.
Puzzle, of course!
When she got sick and had to struggle so hard to keep going. Strong woman!
Highly recommend this read / listen
