I bought this book on sale and I'm glad that I did. I really enjoyed the adventure and intrigue of this book. I found this book exciting. And the romance built up nicely between the characters, The narrator did a great job. For me the story is important but no matter how good the story is with a audiobook if the narrator isn't good or their voice doesn't suit the type of book it is ( eg a voice that sounds like my grandmother reading erotica) then I can't listen and return it. I think the narrator did a great job with all the characters and added to the story with her performance. If you love historical romance and a story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then get this one.
I discovered this series two years ago, I loved the first two audiobooks And yes it's been a long wait for the third book but it was so worth it. Because of how long ago it was I have spent the last last week listening to the first two books. And what a wonderful week it was.
If you like some readers are expecting a full blown old fashioned war, you will be disappointed. The Author was true to her charecters. The vampires are imortal with centuries of political intrigue and manipulation. And the times of old where you go onto a battlefield and slaughter your enemy are long past. Wars are fought with numbers of alies, money and intrigue and being very sneaky. This is a wonderfully woven book, secrets are revealed and most answers given. This series combines my two favorite genres paranormal romance and historical romance. The Author is a History Scholar who has studied the history of science and magic between the 1500's and 1700's so you know you are getting a wonderfully accurate view of history. Especially the second book which was set in the 1590's. I honestly loved this third book as much as the other two. It is a little more gruesome than the other two with the main bad guy being a psychopath. This book is a wonderful journey with unexpected twists and turns to keep you on your toes.
I liked the narrator, thought she did a pretty good job. And honestly all these books are around 24 hours of listening more than double your average audiobook. With all three books I've got 70 hours of wonderful listening. This book is definately worth the credit. If you haven't read the series yet get all three, you'll have the advantage of having the series already finished. If you are already a fan you'll love this one too.
This book is a real gem. I love paranormal romance. This is about the Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Myth. The Author did a brilliant job with the world building of this story. It's a fun and refreshing story with action and mystery. Though this is a series there is no cliff hanger and there's a HEA. I hate being left on the edge waiting many months for the next book in a series to come out when there's a cliff hanger. It can be a real turn off when the whole series isn't finished yet. But this is not the case here. A very satisfying ending. The narrator Christina Traister is very talented she does a wonderful job at both the male and female voices, she's a talented narrator. Actually she's up there with my favorite narator Tavia Gillbert. And for a audiobook the narrator is as important as the Author, without a good narrator even the best written book will bomb on audio. This is a great listen worthy of a credit or whispersinc it. You won't be disappointed.
I've listened to the all previous books in the series and really liked them but this is my favorite. I loved the rawness of the two main characters. They are both flawed and broken. What I love about Melanie is that she's not the goody two shoe virgin that most books have and honestly how many virgins in their twenties are out there nowadays. And what I love about Grayson is that he understands her and doesn't judge. And he really is a bad ass not one that plays at it. What really made this a great audio book was the two narrators. And the story told from both main characters perspectives. The narrators both did a great job. Especially the male narrator.
I enjoyed this book until the end. Yes throughout this book she seemed overly needy sometimes. That was okay, although she was supposed to be strong and independent. Spoilers. But at the end after everything went down. And they were rescued and the police showed up. Were they taken away by the police for interviews and debriefing. No! Did she ask about the friend that was shot and she hoped was still alive. NO! Did she break down about her other friend she watched die. Now she was out of danger and processed everything. NO! They went off to a flash hotel room with rose petals and a silk tie under a pillow. All set up and waiting. (Oh he had all that done but no condoms) When did he have time to arrange this or even ask his friend to. They were kidnapped and imprisoned for a couple days? Then they spend a whole night having sex then the next day go for a walk and dinner. Still no thought for her dead friend or her badly injured one who was at deaths door. They have dinner he proposes THE END the narrator actually said those words. No epilogue nothing, What the........,, This went from a very good book for me to just okay all in the last chapter of the book. Honestly very disappointing. The end was totally unrealistic and totally selfish for supposedly such caring people and very abrupt.
Yes. Once u set the audio speed to 1.25 the story flows and you get carried away into another time. Honestly this story is full of drama, romance and plenty of laughter. I listened to the 35 hour book over 3 days. That's how engaging the story was, with plenty of laugh out loud moments. This book was fun.
William and Jordan. The interaction between these two characters was hilarious. She had him wrapped around her little finger and he knew it. And I loved his reactions to her.
There is something wrong with the audio speed, another reviewer mentioned it. When you first listen the voice is too slow and drags unnaturally. At 1.25 speed on the audible apps settings the readers voice is perfect. I found him engaging and fun to listen to. And his portrayal of the different characters was wonderful. I loved his William and Paris especially.
The size of this audiobook is really like 3 books in one. I loved the length of this book. It gives the story and characters time to develop. Honestly if you love Historical Romance, you'll love this.
