For 500 years, the survivors of the Great Wars lived peacefully in a valley sanctuary shielded by powerful magic from the blighted and dangerous outside world. But the enchanted barriers have crumbled, the borders have been breached by predators, and the threat of annihilation looms large once more. Sider Ament, bearer of the last black staff and its profound power, devoted his life to protecting the valley and its inhabitants - and, in his final moments, gave stewardship of the black staff to the young Tracker Panterra Qu.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The, pace was a little slow, and I'm wondering if maybe the Shannara series has seen its better days

Would you be willing to try another book from Terry Brooks? Why or why not?

Yes, I'm sure I will after having read I think nearly everyone of his books

Which character – as performed by Phil Gigante – was your favorite?

Sadly none, but not the performers fault

Do you think The Measure of the Magic needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

    It needs a quick conclusion

    Any additional comments?

I really like the series and hope that Mr. Brooks can breathe some new life into it.

Atticus O’Sullivan, last of the Druids, lives peacefully in Arizona, running an occult bookshop and shape-shifting in his spare time to hunt with his Irish wolfhound. His neighbors and customers think that this handsome, tattooed Irish dude is about twenty-one years old - when in actuality, he’s twenty-one centuries old. Not to mention: He draws his power from the earth, possesses a sharp wit, and wields an even sharper magical sword known as Fragarach, the Answerer. Unfortunately, a very angry Celtic god wants that sword, and he’s hounded Atticus for centuries....

Would you consider the audio edition of Hounded to be better than the print version?

I like reading series, and I had just finished several series; (Dreseden, Drizzt, Terry Brooks..) and I was looking for a new series to read. Something light as I usually listen in the car on a long commute. Initially the covers through me off because it just seemed a little hokey, but I have been pleasantly surprised. The story is good, the character reminds me a little of Harry Dresden, and Oberon has me laughing out loud sometimes.

After being murdered by a mystery assailant, navigating his way through the realm between life and death, and being brought back to the mortal world, Harry realizes that maybe death wasn’t all that bad - because he is no longer Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard. He is now Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness. After Harry had no choice but to swear his fealty, Mab wasn’t about to let something as petty as death steal away the prize she had sought for so long.

Would you consider the audio edition of Cold Days to be better than the print version?

Yes, as James Marsters who I believe has done all the narration in the series, gives an excellent performance as the main character as well as the others

What did you like best about this story?

The story was very thought out, with all the loose ends resolved. The best of the entire series to me.

Which character – as performed by James Marsters – was your favorite?

Harry; he gives life to the character

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

    none other than pure enjoyment

    Any additional comments?

This series is one of the few where I'm sorry when its finished, and I can't wait for the next. I have to say that 2 books ago when Harry was "killed" I was saddened thinking the series was over. I love fantasy fiction and this has become the best of the type. My other favorite author is Terry Brooks, but Jim Butcher is more of the adults version or fantasy fiction.

By listening to these specially composed melodies with their rhythmic repetitions of Russian and English a few times, you will pick up over 200 essential words and phrases that will not just be on the tip of your tongue but burned deeply into your long-term memory - in next to no time.
