In The Revenge of Geography, Robert D. Kaplan builds on the insights, discoveries, and theories of great geographers and geopolitical thinkers of the near and distant past to look back at critical pivots in history and then to look forward at the evolving global scene. Kaplan traces the history of the world's hot spots by examining their climates, topographies, and proximities to other embattled lands.

The author shares many stories of his world wide journies to help the listener understand the different areas. It is very helpful for a fuller understanding of the situation.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I especially enjoyed the overview of China and the Middle East. It is helpful to know some geography before listening to this book.

A very thorough overview of potential conflicts in both the near term and long term.

While Abraham Lincoln is widely lauded for saving a Union and freeing millions of slaves, his valiant fight against the forces of the undead has remained in the shadows for hundreds of years. That is, until Seth Grahame-Smith stumbled upon The Secret Journal of Abraham Lincoln, and became the first living person to lay eyes on it in more than 140 years.

Would you listen to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter again? Why?

I would listen to his book again because it is very entertaining. The narrator does an excellent job in voicing the several characters in the book. It is a silly story but it is well worth the listen.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story is the set up for future story lines of this lineage. The book doesn't have enough story line in it to keep it interesting. This was my least favorite Clancy book. It was just plain boring in spots.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I have moved to The Killing Angels by Michael Shaara.

What about Stephen Hoye’s performance did you like?

He did the best he could with just mediocre material.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

The only way this should be made into a movie is if it is combined with the sequel to this book. Otherwise everyone in the theater will fall asleep.

    Any additional comments?

Clearly not one of Clancy's best but then again he wrote many other wonderful books.

This is the breathtaking adventure of the great Carthaginian general who shook the foundations of Rome. In the world's first "global" conflict, Hannibal Barca marched up and down the Italian peninsula for 18 years, appearing well nigh invincible to a Rome which began to doubt itself for the first time in its history.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend tis book to anyone who has an interest in this particular part of ancient history. (200 BC)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Hannibal was my favorite character because the book goes into detail about his reasoning behind the great invasion. It also shows how Rome was

What about Charlton Griffin’s performance did you like?

He did a great job changing voices and reserved a deeper voice for Hannibal. His performance was outstanding.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The part when Hannibal and his army was crossing the Alps. The sacrifice his men had to endure to survive this march is remarkable.

    Any additional comments?

If you are interested in the days of the Roman Republic (200 BC) and want to listen to a very thorough review of Hannibal and the invasion of Italy this is the book for you. I can not rate this book high enough and will in a few weeks listen to it again.

Although his father had been reluctant to become a field operative, Jack Ryan Jr. wants nothing more. Privately training with a seasoned Special Forces drill instructor, he’s honing his skills to transition his work within The Campus from intelligence analysis to hunting down and eliminating terrorists wherever he can—even as Jack Ryan Sr. campaigns for re-election as President of the United States. But what neither father nor son knows is that the political and the personal have just become equally dangerous.

In 1911 two wealthy British heiresses, Claire and Dora Williamson, came to a sanitorium in the forests of the Pacific Northwest to undergo the revolutionary fasting treatment of Dr. Linda Burfield Hazzard. It was supposed to be a holiday for the two sisters. But within a month of arriving at what the locals called Starvation Heights, the women were emaciated shadows of their former selves, waiting for death.

Where does Starvation Heights rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Starvation Heights is a very detailed oriented book that I found very interesting but not overly fascinating. The book covers the death of Claire Williamson in great detail. The trial of Dr. Linda Hazzard and her way of think is done in exact detail. However, I found that some parts were very dry and not really worthy of inclusion in this book such as the great details about the lifes of the Williamson sisters before the starvation treatment. While other subjects such as why Dr. Hazzard was granted a medical license is not covered at all...
