Detective John Corey now faces his toughest assignment yet: the pursuit and capture of the world's most dangerous terrorist -- a young Arab known as "The Lion" who has baffled a federal task force and shows no sign of stopping in his quest for revenge against the American pilots who bombed Libya and killed his family.

This book is dripping testosterone and all those cute little phrases, (sand land, camel jockey???) got to be a bit too much. Brick was as always, over dramatic.

The recipient of Edgar, Anthony, and Macavity Awards, New York Times best-selling author C. J. Box has won almost every honor in his field. In Breaking Point, Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett is glad to catch up with old friend Lyle Pendergast, but then the man goes missing and is named a suspect in the death of two EPA employees. All signs point to Lyle’s guilt, but the more Joe digs into the case, the more he realizes he’s stepped into the middle of a deadly power play.

Would you try another book from C. J. Box and/or David Chandler?

David Chandler wasn't bad but not much variety or distinction in his characters. C.J. Box on the other hand reminded me of a bad Louis Lamoure. What a far-fetched story, the EPA using missile firing drones and game wardens running rapids & waterfall on a log. This book goes to the bottom of my list.

What do you think your next listen will be?

The Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie King

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

Living in Idaho, near the Wilderness Area, I run across a lot of people with the same attitudes as the author. Gun-totters with cowboy hats, their mouths full of chew and throwing Coors Lite beer cans out their Ford pickups windows. They think that because they were raised there, that God's Country is their own personal property and treat it as such. If it wasn't for the EPA there would be a lot more damage done to our public lands.

In this first collaboration by science fiction masters Larry Niven (Ringworld) and Gregory Benford (Timescape), the limits of wonder are redrawn once again as a human expedition to another star system is jeopardized by an encounter with an astonishingly immense artifact in interstellar space: a bowl-shaped structure half-englobing a star, with a habitable area equivalent to many millions of Earths…and it’s on a direct path heading for the same system as the human ship.

What disappointed you about Bowl of Heaven?

As with everyone else, it just stopped. There were several story lines running along simultaneously, all engaging, but all needing resolution or showing how they were adding to the overall point of the book. They were never brought together. The book just ended, never even ATTEMPTING to bring them together or finish the grand picture whose parts were so meticulously painted.

If you’ve listened to books by Larry Niven and Gregory Benford before, how does this one compare?

    N/A

Which character – as performed by Zach Villa – was your favorite?

    Any additional comments?

I LOVED listening to this story - couldn't wait to get back it after a break! Very thought-provoking and engaging. When I was listening to the last CD (9/10 - I burn them), I was wondering how in the heck could the authors tie everything on the dance floor together before it ended? It seemed like a big challenge to make that happen in the last 30 minutes. Well, they simply didn't even try. The book just ended. NOTHING was resolved. Characters and story lines were still in total LIMBO. At the very LEAST - the authors should have plugged a "soon-to-be-released" PART TWO (if that even exists - or is planned!). For now, I guess I'll have to make up my own ending.
