The War of the Rebellion is over, and the members of the American Gun Club, bored with inactivity, look around for a new project. At last they have it: "We will build the greatest projectile the world has ever seen and make the moon our 38th state!" When From the Earth to the Moon was published in 1865, it was regarded as pure fantasy. Who could imagine a rocket that would carry men and animals through space?

I bought this book after my wife recommended it. After listening to most of the book and never getting to that part "where it gets better" I was very dissapointed. After explaining the plot and story to my wife she then said that she might have listened to a child's abridged version of the book. This book is repetitive, the reader sounds like a tired old grandfather. Do not recommend.

As the new story begins, Leeds and his "aspects" are hired by I3 (Innovative Information Incorporated) to recover a corpse stolen from the local morgue. But there's a catch. The corpse is that of a pioneer in the field of experimental biotechnology, a man whose work concerned the use of the human body as a massive storage device. He may have embedded something in the cells of his now dead body. And that something might be dangerous.

I instantly got hooked with book one. This one is just as good. I'm really liking the characters and stories. Hope Sanderson continues writing more of this series!

In celebration of the week-long, once-in-a-decade rite of Apert, the fras and suurs prepare to venture outside the concent's gates - opening them wide at the same time to welcome the curious "extras" in. During his first Apert as a fra, Erasmus eagerly anticipates reconnecting with the landmarks and family he hasn't seen since he was "collected". But before the week is out, both the existence he abandoned and the one he embraced will stand poised on the perilous brink of cataclysmic change.

Neil Stephenson creates an entire universe for us to imagine ourselves in. The first hours was a bit difficult to listen to as the details were a bit overwhelming, but once over that you will be glad that you listened to it. The characters are deep and you feel a bond with them. Stephenson creates a new vocabulary that in the beginning seem strange but after a while you might make a slip and use them in your daily life. I got this book on Leo Laporte's recommendation and I will make the same recommendation now.

Paulo Coelho's enchanting novel has inspired a devoted following around the world. This story, dazzling in its simplicity and wisdom, is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who travels from his homeland in Spain to the Egyptian desert in search of treasure buried in the Pyramids. Along the way he meets a Gypsy woman, a man who calls himself king, and an Alchemist, all of whom point Santiago in the direction of his quest.
