  • Sleeping with the Devil: How Washington Sold Its Soul for Saudi Crude

    • ABRIDGED (6 hrs)

Robert Baer reveals how our government's relationship with Saudi Arabia and America's dependence on Saudi oil make us vulnerable to economic disaster and put us at risk for further acts of terrorism. Our addiction to cheap oil and Saudi petrodollars caused us to turn a blind eye to the Al Sa'ud's culture of bribery, and its financial support of fundamentalist Islamic groups that have been directly linked to international acts of terror, including those against the United States.

Kevin Christy says: "Ouch. The truth hurts."
    "A distraction..."
    Overall

This book might appear informative to those who are big on current events and small on history but to understand middle eastern politics, including the emergence of Al-Qaida, you have to know the underlying factors (i.e. history). The author is right that Saudi Arabia has problems but to say that it's evil and that it has created Al-Qaida is just pure ignorance and is only distracting us from the root cause. O' Jerusalam is worthwhile reading for those who would like an unbiased and educated understanding of what the problem is - only then can we tackle it. This book isn't worth 50 cents.

  • Preachers of Hate: Islam and the War on America

Like no book before it, Preachers of Hate uncovers an ancient hatred that threatens the life and livelihood of every American. The "new" anti-Semitism targets not only Jews, but Americans specifically and the West in general. It targets our values, our lifestyle, and our freedoms. It is the single most important issue we face when trying to make sense of the Arab world.

Stiofan says: "We need to know about this..."
    "Non-compelling and tasteless"
    Overall

The author claims that muslims believe there exists a conspiracy by Jews to rule the world. This is nothing more than an Islamic version of the Protocals of Zion. This belongs in the fiction section and it does more to promote hate and misunderstanding than it does to bridge gaps.
