  • Salem's Lot

    • UNABRIDGED (17 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Stephen King
    • Narrated By Ron McLarty
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Ben Mears has returned to Jerusalem's Lot in the hopes that living in an old mansion, long the subject of town lore, will help him cast out his own devils and provide inspiration for his new book. But when two young boys venture into the woods and only one comes out alive Mears begins to realize that there may be something sinister at work and that his hometown is under siege by forces of darkness far beyond his control.

Where does Salem's Lot rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    High top of the list

What did you like best about this story?

A small city's description, perfectly written characters (all of them).

What about Ron McLarty’s performance did you like?

Yes, very much. But the quality of the recording wasn't good enough.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My favorite thing about the book was how small, inconspicuous details are building the horror atmosphere. Stephen King is the MASTER!!!

    Any additional comments?

It isn't easy to write a good book about the vampires. This one is a masterpiece!!!

  • Better Homes and Hauntings

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 58 mins)
    • By Molly Harper
    • Narrated By Amanda Ronconi
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

    Amazon Customer says: "Disappointing"
    "Nice story, badly told"
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend Molly Harper's earlier books. Not this one. The story itself has really great potential. Unfortunately wasted, in my opinion.

What could Molly Harper have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

She couldn't decided whether the story should be funny or scary... You can feel it in the book.

What does Amanda Ronconi bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Amanda Ronconi is the best narrator ever. She creates characters, builts the atmosphere. She's truly amazing. I bought the book because of her as well.

Did Better Homes and Hauntings inspire you to do anything?

Yes - I will listen Woman in Black again. The story is milion Times better.

  • The Age of Innocence

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 2 mins)
    • By Edith Wharton
    • Narrated By David Horovitch
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Countess Olenska, separated from her European husband, returns to old New York society. She bears with her an independence and anawareness of life which stirs the educated sensitivity of Newland Archer, engaged to be married to May Welland.

    Ilana says: "Narrated to Perfection"
    "An unfulfilled love-what a story..."
If you could sum up The Age of Innocence in three words, what would they be?

    Stylish. Addictive. Fascinating.

What other book might you compare The Age of Innocence to and why?

None. I've never read such book before, cause I don't like romances. I find them boring. This one is unique. Apparently calm, but underneath passionate and full of emotions.

Which character – as performed by David Horovitch – was your favorite?

Without the doubt - Countess Olenska - an extraordinary woman.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When I realized those two should be together so badly, and the only thing which make them parted is...the age of innocence.

    Any additional comments?

Beautifully filmed by Martin Scorsese. I highly recommend.
