I borrowed the Simon Vance reading from my library and it was so unenjoyable, I actually joined audible just to hear the Tull reading. Vance's voice is too refined for the characters and the voice for Jack Aubrey suggests he is an aged admiral. Tull's gravelly voice and thick brogue better suits the characters. His pacing and punctuation also helps the characters come of the page (sort of speak). I recommend sampling both readers to figure out your preference - its quite possible you'll get hooked on the series.
