A different reader, I think. Couldn't get into the story because he was so horrible
Not sure. Couldn't get into the story.
ANYONE. Anyone but him. His accents are terrible, he sounds like he's reading to middle schoolers, he has inflections at all the wrong places.
I'm sure the story is good.
These companies need to listen to their narrators first.
Wow. I love this series, but this book is SO boring i found myself not remembering what happened the chapter before. I see what he was trying to get at in the writing, by writing from the 'Historian' POV, but the fact that very little happens the entire book kills it. I generally love his voice, but man, this one was bad. I only gave it two stars because of how much i like the rest of the series and the reader.
Vlad. Who's almost non-existant in this book.
Most of the rest. They aren't memorable.
More books in the series, please. Don't leave us with this taste in our mouths.
The story would have been better if there had been some action. I made it halfway through and the most exciting thing that happened was a 2 minute section where a rival clan invaded their camp. It was over quickly and predictably. The period is an interesting one, but the author spends SO much time on the triviality of everyday life that I found my mind wandering and unable to remember characters. A bit more action and a lot less detail and it would have been a decent story.
No. I still enjoy fantasy/period based novels.
I liked that it was like Mary Poppins reading to me. I didn't like that it was like Mary Poppins reading to me this kind of story.
Not worth the price.
For a trilogy with the word 'Assassin' in the title, it's quite deceptive. The hero is whiny and lacks courage, and the fact that he's an assassin has very little to do with the story, nor is he good at being an assassin. The story is decent but tends to drag on at times, with the hero constantly weary and in a state of woe. There are many good characters in this book, but the hero is the least inspiring. I would have given 2.5 stars if possible.
Average and predictable.
Decent character voices.
I would rent it, but not pay theatre price.
Be prepared to constantly expect something around the corner that never comes.
