Kane & Abel for a new generation!!

They had only one thing in common - William Lowell Kane and Abel Rosnovski, one the son of a Boston millionaire, the other a penniless Polish immigrant. Two men born on the same day on opposite sides of the world, their paths were destined to cross in the ruthless struggle to build a fortune.

The marvellous story, spanning 60 years, of two powerful men linked by an all-consuming hatred, brought together by fate to save - and finally destroy - each other.

It was long and drawn out, plausible, and progressively sadder. I quite enjoyed that. If you are looking for a quick fix of a good time, then I'd say no to this. If you are patient and stay inside the character's heads, you'll be fine. Many good examples of how to go about gaining power in the world. And of how to lose it. The narrator did a really good job. Great accents.

The 50th Law, combines the unique talents of hip hop and pop culture icon 50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson) and Robert Greene, bestselling author of The 48 Laws of Power. This is a "bible" for success in life and work based on a single principle: fear nothing. Containing intimate stories from 50 Cent's life on the streets and in the boardroom; his rise to worldwide fame and acclaim after the release of his album Get Rich or Die Tryin'.

Having been through twice I have found this to be one of my favourites. This book can be picked up at any point and flows from then on. So does not need to be followed intently. Which was nice as I was listening to it while working on something else. The narration is monotonous but works very well for this type of book.

The whole concept of fearlessness is not wholly focused on 50 (his whole story is compelling aswell) but looks into many great historical figures and their use of it. From fear of taking what you want, to fearing death, it is all in there. The 50th Law was a hit with me because I could relate to the fearlessness approach. If you do too, then this will help you to push it even further. Also, if you are a fearful type this read may help you to break away that little bit more. Either way, just experiment with it for fun.

Pi Patel has been raised in a zoo in India. When his father decides to move the family to Canada and sell the animals to American zoos, everyone boards a Japanese cargo ship. The ship sinks, and 16-year-old Pi finds himself alone on a lifeboat with a hyena, an orangutan, a zebra with a broken leg, and a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon it's just Pi, the tiger, and the vast Pacific Ocean - for 227 days. Pi's fear, knowledge, and cunning keep him alive until they reach the coast of Mexico, where the tiger disappears into the jungle.

Decent listen, decent narrator. I found the animal's characters and interactions were great. The main character not so much. I was not a fan personally. I could have listened to the way the animal's struggles and behaviour were described all day by the author. If Pi didn't quite make it to the lifeboat I'd have no choice but to love it.
