From farmer Joel Salatin's point of view, life in the 21st century just ain't normal. In Folks, This Ain't Normal, he discusses how far removed we are from the simple, sustainable joy that comes from living close to the land and the people we love.

I bought this, because I am very interested in organic and sustainable ways of living, with respect for the earth and its inhabitants, human or other. I had seen Joel in Food Inc. and loved his enthusiasm and opinion.

I loved Joel's enthusiasm in this book, and although I am most definitely not religious, I agree with a lot of the points he makes. Granted, sometimes he is a bit preachy and too oldfashioned for my taste, but on the whole I found this book informative, inspiring and a pleasure to listen to.

  • Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy

Polls reveal that 85 percent of Americans believe there was a conspiracy behind Lee Harvey Oswald. Some even believe Oswald was entirely innocent. In this encyclopedic, absorbing audiobook, Vincent Bugliosi shows how the public has come to believe such lies about the day that changed the course of history. Bugliosi has devoted almost 20 years of his life to this project, and is determined to show that, despite the overwhelming popular perception, Oswald killed Kennedy and acted alone.

This book was recommended to me by a colleague, a journalist, who raved about it. After listening to it, I was amazed that a journalist, of all people, convinced me to give it a try. Bugliosi is very selective in how he presents his 'case', his description of Oswald's demeanor was laughable, his omission of unwelcome facts unforgivable.

Why we think it’s a great listen: If you’ve ever loved a dog - or even patted a dog - this book, told from the perspective of man’s best friend, will tug at your heartstrings...and won’t let go until long after Welch performs the last word. Enzo knows he is different from other dogs: a philosopher with a nearly human soul (and an obsession with opposable thumbs), he has educated himself by watching television extensively and by listening very closely to the words of his master.

I had never heard of this book, but it was recommended to me after our dog passed away last summer. Spent the credit I had, thinking it would be a nonfiction book about the author's dog. It wasn't (obviously), but what a pleasant surprise this book was. Well written, more than outstandingly performed and Enzo is great, even though he was made up. I liked the story, which moved me to my core, I loved the tone of Enzo's musings and I spent the last bit crying on my bycicle today. My wife's English isn't really good, so I tried to buy it for her in Dutch, only to find it discontinued in The Netherlands. What a pity. Thankfully I found a second-hand copy, which she finished well before me. I would recommend this book without a moment's hesitation to anyone with a soul craving a good read (or listen).
