  • Monster Hunter Legion: Monster Hunter, Book 4

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 35 mins)
    • By Larry Correia
    • Narrated By Oliver Wyman
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When hunters from around the world gather in Las Vegas for a conference, a creature left over from a World War Two weapons experiment wakes up and goes on a rampage across the desert. A not-so-friendly wager between the rival companies turns into a race to see who can bag the mysterious creature first. Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

Katherine says: "What happens in Vegas..."
"Incredible series just keeps getting better."
If you could sum up Monster Hunter Legion in three words, what would they be?

    Riveting, Action, Monsters.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Monster Hunter Legion?

Too many and I am not going to give any spoilers.

Have you listened to any of Oliver Wyman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to the entire Monster Hunters International series and Oliver has done a great job bringing the characters to life. It seems that with every book in the series he is more comfortable with the characters and really makes you visualize them as full and complete people. He really brings out the humor and horror of Larry's writing.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The latest riveting story in one of the greatest epic action series of all time.

    Any additional comments?

I don't write many reviews but I feel it would be a travesty if I didn't give accolades to this book. Larry has created a great series with the Monster Hunters International books. The first book in the series took of running with a new look at monsters and how they are kept in check by the hunters of the world. Each book has added many new layers to the MHI team. This book is, again, adding so much more to this series with a well spun web of deceit, action, drama, humor and just flat out one heck of a ride. Oliver does an amazing job as well bringing these characters to life. Larry and Oliver make the most entertaining 16+ hours of listening pleasure that you could possibly have. I can't wait until the next book in the MHI series comes out.

  • Path of the Assassin: A Thriller

    • UNABRIDGED (13 hrs and 1 min)
    • By Brad Thor
    • Narrated By Armand Schultz
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

After rescuing the President from kidnappers, Navy SEAL turned Secret Service agent Scot Harvath shifts his attentions to rooting out, capturing or killing all those responsible for the plot. As he prepares to close out his list, a bloody and twisted trail of clues points towards one man - the world's most feared, most ruthless terrorist, Hashim Nidal. Nidal has assembled an international league of Islamic terrorist networks in an ingenious plot to topple both Israel and America.

Scott says: "Does not measure up"
    "Couldn't stop listening!"

I have listened to the whole Scott Harvath series and even though this was officially the second book of the series, they finally made it in the unabridged format. This is right on par with the rest of the series as far as the action, intrigue and all around fun listening. I found myself cheering and laughing out loud throughout this book. It is good to get some of the back stories filled in and being made aware of characters that follow in the series. If you want to listen to a great story that will keep you riveted, GET THIS AUDIOBOOK!

  • Cold Days: The Dresden Files, Book 14

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By Jim Butcher
    • Narrated By James Marsters
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

After being murdered by a mystery assailant, navigating his way through the realm between life and death, and being brought back to the mortal world, Harry realizes that maybe death wasn’t all that bad - because he is no longer Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard. He is now Harry Dresden, Winter Knight to Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness. After Harry had no choice but to swear his fealty, Mab wasn’t about to let something as petty as death steal away the prize she had sought for so long.

Ethan M. says: "Thwarts Every Expectation - In a Good Way"
"The Dresden Files just keep getting better."
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This whole series is amazing. Harry is taking a big step off of his usual path in Cold Days but he still remains true to himself. Jim Butcher really knows how to create dire situations and yet lighten the moments with Harry's humor. This is one of those books that you just can't stop listening to.

What about James Marsters’s performance did you like?

Welcome back James! James Marsters is truly the master storyteller of The Dresden Files books. He knows all of the characters intimately. Because he does, you too will feel as though you are right there in the story watching up close. Jim Butcher writes great stories and James brings them to life.

    Any additional comments?

I feel that this is one of the best books in this series. Jim Butcher takes some big risks by continuing to take Harry out of his element, but it really pays off with a riveting story that leaves us waiting for the next book.

    • UNABRIDGED (12 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Peter Clines
    • Narrated By Ray Porter
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

    Charles says: "Completely Engaging"
    "What an adventure!"
What does Ray Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ray does a terrific job bringing the characters to life as well as making you feel the emotions of the moment. He also has a knack for nailing the humor, spot on.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were several moments that were moving but I am not going to give any spoilers in my review.

    Any additional comments?

Peter Clines knows how to build and deliver an amazing story. This book is a fun, at times terrifying, read right from the beginning.

  • American on Purpose: The Improbable Adventures of an Unlikely Patriot

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 24 mins)
    • By Craig Ferguson
    • Narrated By Craig Ferguson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In American on Purpose, Craig Ferguson delivers a moving and achingly funny memoir of living the American dream as he journeys from the mean streets of Glasgow, Scotland, to the comedic promised land of Hollywood. Along the way he stumbles through several attempts to make his mark - as a punk rock musician, a construction worker, a bouncer, and, tragically, a modern dancer.

    Diane says: "Unabashedly Honest"
"Interesting story about an entertaining guy."
What did you love best about American on Purpose?

I really enjoyed that Craig did the reading himself, the story had more depth and true emotion because of this. He truly entertains as he regales you with his story. This book was able to show that a guy you enjoy watching on TV is also a genuinely good, down to earth guy that you can admire for being a good person.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes I did want to listen to this book in one sitting, and I did. Very entertaining.

    Any additional comments?

If you enjoy watching Craig on TV, I would recommend that you listen to this book. You will feel as if he is your buddy that you have known forever, with all of his mistakes and high points. It is in no way a boring listen.
