I would absolutely recommend this book. I loved "Racing in the Rain" you'll love this book.
I love that the book got me hooked right out of the gate. None of that waiting for 5 or 6 chapters to finally get involved.
The characters are so believable and charming. I was hooked right from the beginning. The book also didn't insult the reader by explaining things that the story made clear. I also loved that the character of Ove was politically incorrect but not prejudice.
Best credit I've spent all year!
I'm not a fan of people who use Too Many Words and don't say anything. That's what this book did. It took about an hour of listening before I could even figure out what was going on and that it was about 2 different characters. I kept remembering the good reviews and toughed it out. I would have never made it through the book if I wasn't listening to it.
Wouldn't listen to another of his books if they are anything like this.
The narrator was just okay as narrators go. He didn't change his voice at all and had a strange cadence to his reading.
The only redeeming quality is that it's over.
The only thing that could have made this book any better would have been A PLOT! Imagine that. The book it titled The Condition, but the there is maybe 15 minutes spent on the girl who actually has the Condition. The rest is depressing background information on all of the characters.
I kept waiting for the point of the story to come out. I finally just tossed it. What a waste!
Julia Whelan did a great job of building suspense and didn't disappoint by making the end too predictable.
I loved that the book was "techy" without being too complicated to understand.
The only thing that would have made this book better was to have a scene where "Bert" got to use his skills.
The Narrator did such a good job with the voice of the Dog vs. the Man. It wasn't cheesy, but you knew who was talking just by the voice change.
I loved how the lives of the two intertwined
I read listen while I'm driving my 45 minute commute to work and some days I couldn't wait to get on the road.
