It made me laugh, it made me cry. It made me worry for the characters-especially for Abeline and Minnie. How could I not know what was happening in the southern part of the United States during the early 1960's?
I knew some of the problems the blacks faced, but this book places me in their minds with their fears of the whites who had the ability to fire them, send them to jail and even to kill them.
How brave, kind and caring they were!
The book is well written and the readers all read their parts with understandable accents.
I would like to see a sequel. I do want to know how the three protagonists fare in the future.
