It was the full package, the performance was awesome and the story was totally unpredictable. Though the life and death, dooms day scenarios might be a bit much for some readers to accept there was nothing cheesy about it. Quite the opposite in fact, you are sitting on pens and needles while your mind is racing and your heart is pounding.
The story was strong and well developed as you clung to the hope that the characters you love will survive the day of reckoning. The best part is how unpredictable the plot is with the exception that the prophecies do come true, but the how constantly plagues you.
Once again the performance is astounding, every character's voice is distinguishable and their rhythms are consistent. I can not say enough about how amazing of a job he does.
There are several moments that moved me but if I share them I will soil it for the next reader. I will say this, I cried and cheered several times in this book. I also gasped a lot!
I am hoping there are more booking coming in this series, the first three books were amazing. These should be movies!!!!!!
No, because the reading isn't all that great but I will make notes in my hard copy and refer back to them over and over again I am sure.
A history lesson.
It was very dry and the words almost seemed too contrived.
No but it is so interesting to see how real events happened in the history of our country as it was being formed.
This book is real events, events we don't hear about, they all came out of the real journals from those that established colonies in the new world and helped to start America as we know it today. It is fascinating!
I have never read the print version but I love listening to someone read to me, I read most books this way and the performance with Voice in the Wind was amazing! There are so many characters, so many details and all were distinguishable and life like.
I have nothing to compare it with. Few people write about such things because they don't have the knowledge or the heart to do so. This book is phenomenal but you must be willing to walk in shoes of the persecuted church if you are going to read through to the end.
He brings these characters to life, when you might get confused with so many. The hidden natures of the characters are also revealed in his tones which is quite remarkable.
I cried a lot with this book, laughed a little, and by the end was left speechless for a while as I digested the information and revelation of the story itself.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
It took you into the mind of someone living within a communist regime.
It was truthful and caused you to consider life without freedom, even freedom of thought was challenged and even the desire of it was purged out. Exposing a feeling of helplessness and apathy that rocks you to the core.
Dark, Mysterious, Deceitful
No, It was hard to read straight through because it was so intense. You are forced to think through the experiences you are having as you listen, you want to take time to absorb as much as you can.
Truly an eye opener and a heart breaker.
Yes, this is extremely intense and moves quickly. The language and structure of the story is what makes this a re-read.
There were several occasions where you thought David (the main character) was compromised and walking through those moments with him, you really feel the fear and the desire for him to live as well as the wonder of how he will survive.
Christopher Lane does a fantastic job with the emotion, he is extremely believable. When David is being water boarded you just want the pain he experiencing to stop. You never could have felt that without the content that Christopher Lane brings out through his performance.
The fate of the world is in David's hands and nothing will be the same!
This was even better than the first book. I loved it!
Suzanne Collins does an amazing job with these performances!!! Also the characters are wonderful and you just can't stop listening to this series.
I have no comparisons with this book, it is simply fantastic and it is even better than the first book in the series, "The Hunger Games". It is by far my favorite of the three books.
My favorite scene was when Katniss realizes that she needs Peeta, That she loves him, not because of the situation she finds herself is dictating to her but because she is meant to be with him.
Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friend
This series will be a classic!
Yes, I will continue to listen to Redeeming Love over and over again. It is an amazing book about really love and how it can redeem you from anything. This is the best love story I have ever read, hands down! Francine Rivers takes you through every possible emotion that you can have on the course to finding true love leaving you breathless at times living within the moments of Sarah and Michael.
I loved how the author can take a topic that many others have written about but she not only made it fresh but she also made it real, something original and un-cliche. She knew just how to include you in the intimate moments of this couple's life and yet keep their intimate moments still private to the reader. In doing so she reveals how to keep the marriage bed sacred.
I loved becoming wrapped up in their love story and I love how True Love saved her from a fate she couldn't escape on her own.
This is the only performance by Kate Forbes I have heard so I don't really have an opinion but i feel that there were some sound mixing issues, and they are easily over looked at the content of the story is so tantalizing.
There were many moments that were moving to me in this book and honestly they all build on one another so well, I can't spoil them. But I can say, this is a book that you will read at least once a year, much like those who love "Pride and Prejudice" or any other great love story.
If you have any doubts about reading this book forget them and just read it, it will leave you dreaming about love all day long. If you are married it will light a fire in your heart, and if you aren't it will show you what you should be looking forward too. Truly an amazing book! Must have been inspired by God to share love with those who simply don't know what it really looks like.
Christopher Lane does an amazing job narrating this story by his use of inflection and the various accents for each character. Of course it is hard to sound like a female when you are male but still very nice characterization. I really loved him as a narrater!
For me it was the anticipation that would build when moving between each character's separate story. As well as the revelations that would come to the characters as they discovered the truth about these threatening events taking place around them.
My favorite scene was when the young scientist was visited by Jesus and He saved his life and the lives of His family leading them to meet David (the main character). It was really a thrilling moment, a Saul on the way to Damascus type event.
Yes, I couldn't stop listening to this book. It was really one that kept you on pins and needles.
I like that there is a bit of a love story in this as well being that I am a woman. It humanizes the super genius David in a tender way that keeps you cheering him on even when you don't know what choices he will make next.
