I love the other books, but what happened to the war? This book read more like a romance book. If it was not for my love for the author I would of stopped the book after the second or third romance part. The book could of been much better without all of that. The underline story is good, but it is still missing a war.
without a dough
Yes, and no. Yes because there are parts info that I am sure will be important later on the books. No, because I was more then ready for it to be over with.
Please let this be the last of this type War, and Cally love life. Oh, I hope that not a Cally's baby war in later books.
They just be short stories, but they are great reads. It gives a look at some of the other areas of the Dresden world that you could of only have gotten from buying other collection books. Now, all of those stories are in one book. The first being the first ever Dresden story ever written, that has now form it's way in to print for the readers. Makes for a fun read, and gives the fans an idea of how Harry & Murphy working relationship got started. The last story is the one a lot of us have been waiting on. A story from Murphy's point of view, and it is a real treat to see things in her eyes. I can tell you this, this book will have to wanting more. The are just going to have to wait till 2011 to more Harry Dresden.
The second book of the Sandman Slim is filled with as many if not more twist and turns that will keep you plugged in till the end. Even after the book end it will you still wanting more.
R.K. is a great storyteller and has a great way to keep you in the moment. This book picks up six months after the end of book 1. Giving you a feeling of picking up right where you left off from book one.Sandman is forced in to looking for answers to questions that he really does not want to know. Things are going to get bad, but is he ready?
My only complaint about the book is that, I fear R.K. will take another year to write the next book. He has me chomping at the bit for more.
I say this because, I grow up feeling a bit outside of the norm. It is a bit of humor that I am a working Magician myself today, but that is nether here or there. The book tells of a young adult who himself feels like an outsider to life. The story grows as he finds friends like him, learns what love is and how it can feel in its lost. Wrapped up in the middle of this this he learns the would of Magicians, and how to become one himself. I do not try to kid anyone to say this is a young adult book. There is a bit of "adult" parts, but it is not over the top as some writers have done. (I would say it is close to the level Robert Patterson has used in some of his books.) There is lots of twist and turns in the book to keep you wanting more. Give it a try and you might surprise yourself.
I will also say this. There better be more books to come. I want to read more about this world of Magicians.
Well Dean has written one more of his thrillers that are out of the norm. He drops hints through the book that make no scents at the time, but when they do. You will in for a real surprise. I liked the book, and I can only hope he writes more to this book, but do to the date the book was written I do not think he will. Again, this is Dean we are talking about. He just might.
This book has a lot of twist and turns. It will have you guessing at what could be next. I will point out there is some adult content in the book. If that is something you do not like, then I would not suggest this book to you.
Plus, the web contexts on level26.com makes the book come alive. You get passwords that unlocks videos that add more to the book. You do not have to watch the videos, but it is a plus to the book.
I really enjoyed the book, and I am looking forward to the next one.
This was my type of book. A twist of magic and mystery. A real fun ride. "Richard, I want more Sandman Slim books!!"
