It was well plotted and thought out. Not an easy one to figure out.
It did, I kept waiting for the clue that would help figure out what was going on!
Dick Hill is one of my favorite narrators. He does the perfect Alan Gregory
Suspense to the end!!
Do the authors ever listen to the narration of their books? This was a plausible story but I cannot finish it. This narrator sounds like he likes to read to children with absolutely no consciousness as to what character is speaking. Words slurr together and he distracts totally from the story.
This is a thriller and should be read as one, not as a children's book.
I would like to finish the story because it has intrigue and it could be good. Do it again with a different narrator
George Guidall, Dick Hill, Will Patton. Actually, almost anyone else who knows how to read thrillers.
Disappointment because I really cannot finish it. I am about 4 hours in and can't take another minute. Good thing I got it on sale!! Didn't waste a credit.
I think I have made my point!!!!!
Didn't read the print version
Yes. The Tudors fascinate me from a historical perspective. This story puts a really cool twist to the reign of King Henry the Eighth.
Anybody but the dramatic contortions of Scott Brick. I don't think I can listen to another book narrated by him. His whining got to me this time and added nothing to the story. It detracted a lot. Problem is I like most of the authors he narrates, so I guess I will have to read them. Don't the authors listen to the narration of their books?
No, it was too long. Did love the story though!
Find another narrator!!!
Lots of surprises!!
Oleg. It was always a mystery as to who he really was and how guilty he was or wasn't.
This was my first listen to this narrator. Enjoyed his performance. He added alot to the quality of the story.
The revelation of the job loss. Don't want to give away too much.
This was a pretty well thought out work of mystery. It seemed that just when you think you are figuring out the story and characters, another twist gets thrown at you!!
Pretty cool!! Liked the story and the "hard to put down" continual story line.
Michael Connelly is the best author of crime thrillers. Always enjoy his characters and the way he builds the story. Look forward to his books!!!
Similar to the Fifth Witness in that is another Mickey Haller and I like the character. Adding Harry Bosch is never a bad thing!!
The only thing wrong with Michael Connelly is his ability to choose a narrator!! After listening to Peter Giles on The Fifth Witness, I swore I would NEVER again listen to his books. However, this one was on sale so I thought, well I will give it another try.NEVER AGAIN!! This narrator has no concept of inflections or that every sentence is NOT a question!! Also he is NOT Harry Bosch. UGH!!
No, couldn't take the narrator all in one sitting.
I love Mickey Haller and Harry Bosch. I will read any other of these books narrated by Peter Giles or miss them altogether!!
I always love the audio version because it is so flexible for entertainment within my lifestyle.
I enjoy all the Mickey Haller books. I am a fan of Michael Connelly. Harry Bosch is also a great character.
I generally don't order audio books by Michael Connelly because of Peter Giles narration. I ordered The Fifth Witness because it was one of the special order offers from Audible. After listening to him in Brass Verdict, which was my first book narrated by Mr. Giles, I was so disappointed, I chose no more of them, planned to read them.
My attitude about this was not changed by listening to him again!!
His inflections are so out of character. Everything ends on an up note like a question. His voice is not strong enough to carry the hard driving character of a defense lawyer. He also does not carry off the different voices very well, they all sound like him, the female voices are more like his voice.
Yes, when the end was revealed and I turned out to have guessed right!!
Please find another narrator. I really enjoy these stories, but will not order another audio with this narration.
I love the Mickey Haller character and really wanted to read this one. However, I decided I could listen to it for the price to purchase on Kindle. Great story line, Enjoyed it as expected. HOWEVER, the narrator ruined it. The monotone of his voice and lack of expression with different characters was very distracting. If I had it to do over again I would read this one. I will read his new Mickey Haller novel because I will not listen to another narration of this poor quality. Doesn't the author listen to the narration before approving it for publication?
This was the first James Burke novel I had listened to or read. I was overwhelmed by the descriptive writing and the narration by Will Patton.. Having spent alot of time in Louisiana and understanding the culture, this story was pure Cajun country down to the pronunciation of the words and the description of the area.
You know how you hate to have a really good book end? Well this was one for me. The story line was intriguing and held my interest to the end. I found myself smiling alot at the dialect and descriptions, and the story made the package complete.
Will be listening to all of the Burke novels that are narrated by Will Patton . Can't put them down!!
