This explosive novel of the drug trade takes you deep inside a world riddled with corruption, betrayal, and bloody revenge. From the streets of New York City to Mexico City and Tijuana to the jungles of Central America, this is the war on drugs like you've never seen it.

    "Spellbinding!!!"

I started listening to this last summer on my jogs outside in the Texas heat. Holy cow the intensity of this book was more than enough!

I loved the rich plot. Nice & detailed & complex - and I know this sounds stupid, but: LONG! :) It was fun to have a nice "thick" book to enjoy for so long.

Loved the characters & especially the satisfying resolution at the end.

But as Haller prepares for the case that could launch him into the big time, he learns that Vincent's killer may be coming for him next.

Jeff says: "Five Star Book; Three Star Narration"
    "Story was fun, narrator sucked."
    Overall

Fun, intriguing story as always from Michel Connelly.

However, the narrator sucked. Everyone sounded like the surfer dude, only w/different pitches. Cisco was just the surfer dude w/a lower voice, for instance. The characters who were supposed to sound authoritative, didn't; they sounded like, well, surfer dude! Like, with a question mark at the end of their sentences? Like, DUDE!

New York Times bestselling author Sandra Brown is back with a spine-tingling story of murder and betrayal, and a homicide detective's struggle with his own rules of conduct. When Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher is summoned to the home of Judge Cato Laird in the middle of the night to investigate a fatal shooting, he knows that discretion and kid-glove treatment are the key to staying in the judge's good graces and keeping his job.
