I've always been interested in the Dune novels but never took the initiative to read the book. I thought the audio book would be a great way to get into it. I'd have to agree that it was because if it wasn't for it being in audio I wouldn't have gotten as far as I did. To me, the story is very dull. I made it about 5 hours into the book and I feel like nothing has happened. I may pick it back up eventually but as of now I feel like I'm just wasting my time.
I can't say that this novel is anything close to being scary. It was more of a fun adventure. But what really made this book enjoyable was the narrator, Steven Weber. He did an amazing job! He actually brought the characters to life. I'm afraid anything I listen to after this will be a let down. Mr. Weber put a lot of heart and work into reading this. It made the 44 hours seem like 10 hours.
I must say I wasn't sure if I would like this book before starting it but once I did, there was no turning back. The story pulls you in and doesn't let go. I found myself unable to choose a side in the story. At times I was cheering for the protagonist then the next moment I was rooting for the antagonist. Twist and turns throughout the story made this the only thing I listened to for 2 weeks from start to finish. A word of warning though. It is a bit techie so if you aren't familiar with common tech terminology you may find your self wondering what its talking about. But I think you can catch on and follow along just fine.
