Boldly going where no audio has gone before, Star Trek Memories is William Shatner's own behind-the-scenes look at the legendary '60s television series that continues to spawn movies, books, and series spin-offs 26 years after the last episode aired. Avid Trekkers are sure to be delighted with this first-hand account from Captain Kirk himself.

The fascinating, often surprising story of how a simple black rock altered the course of history. Yet the mundane mineral that built our global economy, and even today powers our electrical plants, has also caused death, disease, and environmental destruction. In this remarkable book, Barbara Freese takes us on a rich historical journey that begins three hundred million years ago and spans the globe.

The anchor of The O'Reilly Factor recounts one of the most dramatic stories in American history—how one gunshot changed the country forever. In the spring of 1865, the bloody saga of America's Civil War finally comes to an end after a series of increasingly harrowing battles. President Abraham Lincoln's generous terms for Robert E. Lee's surrender are devised to fulfill Lincoln's dream of healing a divided nation. But one man and his band of murderous accomplices are not appeased....

Even if you hate FOX & O'Reilly, dont let that prevent you from listening to this amazing narration of the days leading up to Lincoln's Assassination & details of Lee & Grant. It keeps you spellbound from start to finish. I didn't want it to end. Cant wait for his next book/audio .....KILLING KENNEDY ....to come out later this year.

In 1973, Secretariat, the greatest champion in horse-racing history, won the Triple Crown. The only horse to ever grace the covers of Time, Newsweek, and Sports Illustrated in the same week, he also still holds the record for the fastest times in both the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes. He was also the only non-human chosen as one of ESPN's "50 Greatest Athletes of the Century".

    Story

I was married on the day Secretariat won the Triple Crown. I was sitting in the living room, in my wedding dress at 5:30pm June 9, 1973, waiting for the race to begin. I was to be married at 6:30 and had a good 45 minute ride to the church..........but I wasn't gong anywhere until the big red horse ran. When he crossed the finish line and then into history, I felt this was a good sign for my upcoming marriage. And so it has been....... some 38.5 years later.
It starts out SLOWLY, going through all the bloodline history. If you're not a race fan, it's boring. But once you get to the part where Secretariat was born and his journey into greatness and history........you cant stop listening. What a one of a kind champion, who's record times in the Derby, Preakness and certainly the Belmont will probably never be broken. Cant wait to see the movie.

Kentucky Sunrise finds Nealy once again hellbent on producing a Derby winner and on showing the world that she's not a quitter. Newly married to lawyer Hatch Littletree, and with her daughter Emmie running the family's famous stables, Blue Diamond Farms, Nealy should finally be content. But returning to Blue Diamond Farms for a family reunion sends Nealy reeling. Emmie has let the farm slide, and she has picked a small, gutsy colt to send to the Derby - a nice horse, but clearly the wrong one.

    Overall

I'm a big fan of Fern Michaels, and got hooked on the Coleman / Thornton family. May I recommend you start with the Texas Series ( Rich, Heat, Fury & Sunrise, then go to her Vegas Series (Rich, Heat & Sunrise) and finish the collection with her Kentucky Series ( Rich, Heat and Sunrise). If you read them in this order, you'll understand the family timeline and dynamic. Once you get started on this Saga, you wont want to stop. I'm not much of a "fiction" person, but I LOVED these 10 books and her style of writing. The narrator was excellent as well. You'll be facinated, entranced, entertained, surprised and amused. Great writter, great stories

For two thousand years, cadavers have been involved in science's boldest strides and weirdest undertakings. They've tested France's first guillotines, ridden the NASA Space Shuttle, been crucified in a Parisian laboratory to test the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin, and helped solve the mystery of TWA Flight 800. For every new surgical procedure, from heart transplants to gender reassignment surgery, cadavers have been there alongside surgeons, making history in their quiet way.

Matthew says: "Darn funny if you're open to the idea."
"Full of unusual and entertaining informaiton."
    Overall

Not a listen for everyone to be sure, but if you're into the Medical field, or are just interested in what happens to you after you pass, or donate your body to medical research........it's facinating, funny, informative, graphic, at times gruesome with a touch of the macabre.
