What was one of the most memorable moments of Swan Song?

Chapter after chapter of interesting character development.

Which character – as performed by Tom Stechschulte – was your favorite?

It is amazing that Tom Stecshulte was able to perform so many different characters and personalities. Most of them will remain with me for some time.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

While this book is no "tear jerker" , it is so well done that I cried at one point, laughed at others, felt joy, and fear.

    Any additional comments?

This is the highest rating that I have ever given and Audible book.

There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

What made the experience of listening to 14 the most enjoyable?

This audible book was hard to put down. The story was fresh. The characters were interesting and their relationships realistic. One of my top listens of all time.

What was one of the most memorable moments of 14?

The story twisted and turned in unpredictable but logical ways.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I had feelings about all of the characters and bought into their relationships. I was sad to have to leave them when the book ended.

Most of us have no idea what's really going on inside our heads. Yet brain scientists have uncovered details every business leader, parent, and teacher should know - such as the brain's need for physical activity to work at its best. How do we learn? What exactly do sleep and stress do to our brains? Why is multi-tasking a myth? Why is it so easy to forget - and so important to repeat new information? Is it true that men and women have different brains?

What other book might you compare Brain Rules to and why?

This book is not the same old book on the brain. The writting is dynamic. The author makes it easy to understand complex subjects.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Everything about the reading was excellent except the tonal quality of the author's voice. It was weak and crackly. However the weak voice was a low price to pay in return for the author's precise enthusiasm and passionate inflection.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The author explains how to make a presentation to perfectly fit our naturally short attention spans.

Why we think it’s a great listen: An all-time Audible favorite that mixes historic fiction, adventure, and romance with one of the most fascinating literary devices: time travel. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love. In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. But their blissful reunion is shattered....

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

This book would have been better if it were more logical and realistic, if the relationships were deeper, and if it wasn't filled with shallow sexual encounters between the two main characters.

What was most disappointing about Diana Gabaldon’s story?

It was certainly of the Romance Novel Genre and not Historical Fiction.

Which character – as performed by Davina Porter – was your favorite?

Davina Porter was the best thing about the book.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    Davina Porter

    Any additional comments?

Get it out of the Historical Fiction Genre and move it to Romance Novel

  • The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature

    • UNABRIDGED (22 hrs and 44 mins)

    Story
    (394)

In The Blank Slate, Steven Pinker, one of the world's leading experts on language and the mind, explores the idea of human nature and its moral, emotional, and political colorings. With characteristic wit, lucidity, and insight, Pinker argues that the dogma that the mind has no innate traits, denies our common humanity and our individual preferences, replaces objective analyses of social problems with feel-good slogans, and distorts our understanding of politics, violence, parenting, and the arts.

Frank says: "Great book from an amazing polymath author"
    "Beating a dead horse."
    Overall

While the concept of this book is interesting the information becomes redundant. I was done after the second chapter.

    It's well read and written.
