Welcome to Safe Haven, Wisconsin. Miles from everything, with one road in and out, this peaceful town has never needed a full-time police force. Until now.... A helicopter has crashed near Safe Haven and unleashed something horrifying. Now this merciless force is about to do what it does best. Isolate. Terrorize. Annihilate. As residents begin dying in a storm of gory violence, Safe Haven's only chance for survival will rest with an aging county sheriff, a firefighter, and a single mom.

I think my jaw hit the floor atleast 50 times while listening to this book. It was absolutley filled with suspense! From the very begining it was game on for the crazy, suspensful, gross, plot. The characters ranged from heroic to more derranged then Jeffrey Dalmer. In fact a couple of these characters made Jeffrey Dalmer seem like a candy striper. Seriously! This is not for the person with a weak stomach. I loved it!!!!!!!! Can't wait for the next book!

It is the week before Christmas. A tanking economy has prompted Dr. Kay Scarpetta - despite her busy schedule and her continuing work as the senior forensic analyst for CNN - to offer her services pro bono to New York City's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. In no time at all, her increased visibility seems to precipitate a string of unexpected and unsettling events.

I loved the first 6 books in this series. They got wierd after that. However, I still went back time and time hoping to rediscover the writer I loved and the suspense I craved. I was sadly disappointed again with The Scarpetta Factor. I absolutely without any doubt HATED THIS BOOK! Someone else said on these reviews "if I wanted this much drama I would watch 90210". I couldn't say it any better. This is the last time I purchase one of her books. Cornwall has managed to morph all of the characters into twisted, damaged, unintelligent ghosts of themselves. They are all either in therapy or should be. I think I should be therapy after listening to this book. The characters are all at odds with one another and keeping deep dark secrets. The series is now centered on their dysfunctional relationships verses a real plot. The dialogue is horrid. Cornwell couldn't even create a new evil she recylced an old one. The narrator is just plain BAD!!!!! She only makes this book worse. Bottom line.... Don't purchase this book it wil be a waste of money.
