REALLY didn't like this book. So many people had recommended it that I had to read it. I know I'm not a fan of fantasy, and I should have known that I wouldn't be a fan of this book either. Note to self: Don't read fantasy - You'll hate it and feel like you completely wasted valuable time!
I liked it in a People Magazine kindof way. I'm glad it was so short - I grew weary of it about half way through. Rob Lowe is a surprisingly good story teller and narrator, but I wish I would have spent the time on something more meaty.
This book was just OK for me. The narration was excellent, but the story content left me feeling like I should have spent my time elsewhere.
Middlesex is a fabulous read, but what makes this even better is the performance of Kristoffer Tabori. He does an incredible job of differentiating all the characters, and he makes the Greek women adorable. I loved every minute of this book, and now I'm searching for other titles read by Kristoffer Tabori.
This book really dragged for me in the middle sections: too many details belaboring the conditions in N. Korea. I was very thankful for the iPhone's 3X speed on this one!
It's not every day that I say that I couldn't put a book down. But this one is that good. I learned so much about WWII and the politics of the world at that time. It was clandestine learning......... it happened while I was engrossed in a great story. Excellent read, and I just bought War and Rememberance.
I found this boring and didn't finish it. The author belabors points - many times I wanted to tell him "I got it a long time ago."
The narration is fine, but I didn't enjoy the books content as I'd hoped I would.
I'm not a rabid fan of all things Apple, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is very well written, and the cultural education about the computer revolution are invaluable. Excellent read and well worth the time.
Excellent narration, and even better book. I LOVED the first half, albeit a little difficult to hear the graphic details of Viktor's concentration camps experience. It was moving, and a perfect setup for the second half of the book. I highly recommend this book.
It tried too hard to be cute. The narration grated on me in WAY too many ways. I toughed it out, but couldn't wait for it to end.
