Friedman brings a fresh outlook to the crises of destabilizing climate change and rising competition for energy - both of which could poison our world if we do not act quickly and collectively. His argument speaks to all of us who are concerned about the state of America in the global future.

    Overall

This book is full of facts and concrete reasoning that show the trouble our planet will be in without some changes to how we get our energy. Mr. Friedman is incredibly well informed, and he clearly lays out the problem and what needs to happen to help turn the problem around. His neutral stance, free from political bias, is refreshing. It is an inspirational call to action; an invitation for all of us to get involved in the process of healing our planet.

  • Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives

Now considered a classic in the field, this remarkable book was the first to fully explore the mystery of life between lives. Journey of Souls presents the first-hand accounts of 29 people placed in a "superconscious" state of awareness using Dr. Michael Newton's groundbreaking techniques. This unique approach allows Dr. Newton to reach his subjects' hidden memories of life in the spirit world after physical death.

    Any additional comments?

I have been interested in life, death, spirituality and all things mysterious all my life. Neither organized religion nor new age spirituality has held any interest for me, for various reasons. But somehow I had this feeling that those belief systems were tapping into parts of something that was even bigger. This book presents some ideas that resonated as truth within me so strongly. The author's lack of sentiment, interpretation and judgement about the information offered by the subjects made it feel much more logical and scientific than other "spiritual" books of this nature. The ideas presented within this book are both extraordinary, and at the same time seem to make perfect sense. At the risk of being too emotional myself, I would go so far as to say that the book is life changing. I have listened to it twice and have just now downloaded "Destiny of Souls". Keep an open mind and you just might find yours blown away.

  • Astral Projection: Hypnosis Induced Astral Travel Techniques

Astral projection occurs when you consciously separate your soul or astral body from your physical body. Your consciousness goes with the astral body. The difference between this and an out-of body experience is that astral projection leaves the body with an conscious intent and can last as long as you want it to. When you astral travel, your body is left behind in the physical world, functioning as normally as it would otherwise.

I am not a stranger to books about spiritual practices, the mystical, and all things unexplained, but this book stood out for its simple message. Craig Beck removed the tinkly new-age frippery and stated simply that we are all connected, we are all on a journey, and some of us are farther along than others. I really connected with what he was saying, because it was not surrounded by pompous, self-aggrandizing claims of special powers or knowledge.

I found the book to be informative, helpful, and made me curious to look into his other publications.

On the eve of her ninth birthday, unassuming Rose Edelstein, a girl at the periphery of schoolyard games and her distracted parents' attention, bites into her mother's homemade lemon-chocolate cake and discovers she has a magical gift: she can taste her mother's emotions in the cake. She discovers this gift to her horror, for her mother - her cheerful, good-with-crafts, can-do mother - tastes of despair and desperation.

Oooooh cake! You might say, and pick this book up on a lark. I implore you to put it back down, quickly. Or if you haven't pressed the download button yet, stop. I was first put off by the overly precious title. The overwhelming number of previous reviews have already pointed out the almost unlistenable tone and pacing of the author's narration. On top of that, however, I found it absurd that even while reading her own writing I noticed that she put the emphasis on the wrong words, or paused at strange moments, as if she were reading an unfamiliar piece for the first time. It was completely distracting. Add to this the constant drone of "he said, she said", and the tempo and pace of the dialogue is lost in all the clumsy words. Don't even get me started on the ridiculous premise of the book, and the inscrutable nature of Joseph's "gift", which I never was quite able to figure out. I have never been quite so upset about wasting a credit as I am with this book.

Subtle pulses of sound embedded in an evocative musical soundtrack stimulate your brainwave patterns - transporting you to an enhanced "visualization zone". Once there, vivid spoken imagery guides you through the three-dimensional worlds in the theater of your mind. This inspiring inner journey will lead you to discover new sources of joy, creativity, energy and healing.

    Overall

I found the audio to be muddy, and considering that the audio is the whole point of this program, that was a big disappointment. I also did not like the fact that the different programs were not blocked out as chapters or something on my ipod, so I was not able to jump easily from one program to the next.

But all that aside, I listened to it last night for the first time and found the sensations extraordinarily interesting and unusual. I found myself in a relaxed state instantly, and fell asleep during the book, but woke up to the sensation that my whole body was vibrating, as if in a mild earthquake. (There was no earthquake in Illinois last night. I checked). So for all the technical dings that I give this audiobook, I still found it gave me results.
